NEW AND IMPROVED--REALLY! CUSTOM REQUESTS WELCOME TOO!
Here's a cheap and easy way to beautify your beauty - install this attractive, hand crafted license plate holder that flows with the lines of the fender and cases of Cross bikes and other Vic models that have the same recess in the fender. Its strong, light weight and the ONLY ONE with threads for attaching the plate and frame, eliminating the need for those distracting nuts on the fender side. It is made of very sturdy black 1/4" thick ABS with a textured finish that faces the fender to prevent reflections. A built on spacer provides clearance to avoid scratching the fender paint. Also included are the appropriate flush screws to attach the bracket to your fender and four shiny or black screws for securing your plate and frame. Replace that billboard of an OEM bracket with one you'll love. + Need a place for an inspection sticker, or have a plate other than 4X7"? Contact me and I will be happy to make a custom bracket to fulfill your needs.
$35 includes free shipping. PayPal, cash, checks or money orders accepted. Custom orders slightly more. If using PayPal, the address is; kalolaz@Q.com and please use the "Send Money To Friends" choice to avoid fees. Please specify shiny or black screws.

Got 'em finished and ready to ship. Those with nice new Cross bikes don't want that upright Vic bracket spoiling that pretty bike's lines. See post #1 for the cheapest and most effective appearance improvement available.
I can take or leave laydown but the threaded inserts is styling big time. Whittle down my SS bolts for a flush mount and that's four less bits on my to do list to pretty up.
Thanks for your order SO. I was looking at a photo of my XR before I came up with that bracket and I could not believe that Ma Vic would go to all that trouble to produce a beautiful and uniquely designed bike and then stick it with a shiny, vertical license plate holder. Maybe it's another federal standard they have to obey. Fortunately, for us, they provided a way to correct that. Maybe that was intentional, you think?
in case ric decides to make more, be sure to get one. very
nice and personally autographed by the builder. so simple to
install even an irvman can do it.
More in stock...come and get 'em! Send personal check for $35 and the best laydown license bracket will be on its way to a bike near you. Be sure to include your forum handle (name), mailing address and phone number. thumb up
Another batch of laydown brackets is hot off the press! See post #1 for all the gory details. They go fast at only $35 including shipping, so act fast.
They fit Cross bikes and any that have the same notch for the license in the rear fender.
Go to post #1 and there you will find that my bracket comes with four 1/4-20 female threaded inserts. There is no clearance for nuts of any kind on the two bottom screws. I also furnish the appropriate screws to mount the bracket to the fender. I could not have made my bracket more complete or easier to install.thumb up
Check your email Mark, I'm on the road and the wife shipped off the last bracket a little while back. There will be another batch shortly after the first of the year. What with the cost of health care for the elves who make the brackets tripling, I may have to raise the price accordingly. If everyone votes intelligently at the next election, the price can remain at $35. It all depends on the electorate.
Gotta lot going on right now and will be making another bunch of brackets later this month. Gonna have to make it a larger bunch too as there are many others waiting. Sorry for the delay folks, but life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. Hold off ordering, I will post when they are ready. Thanks.cheers
Holy Cow! The response has been tremendous. Thanks folks. If you don't like the looks of your stand up license plate on your Cross bike (or model with the same notch in the rear fender) order now, this batch is going fast.
so,it appears that the layback bracket is a little bigger than the actual License plate....yes or no
so there is no need for a plate cover, too(to avoid sharp edges from just the plate sticking out...
Is this true......does this make any sense....:crzy:
I am interested as well, just need to figure out where to relocate my inspection sticker to. The factory bracket with the added inspection bracket from the dealer is fugly.
Yes, there are a few more. Does the inspection sticker have to be viewed from the rear? If so, could it be attached some way (double sided tape, velcro, etc.) to the inside bottom of the rear fender? Send a photo of the present arrangement for additional suggestions. I could make you a custom to your specs. Maybe other New Yorkers can chime in with help on this.thumb up
If I say so myself, it looks like it belongs there. Great improvement over that OEM stand up bracket. I suggest painting the screws to color match the blue they are against on the plate. Then they'd blend in rather than stick out visually.
I can make it so the sticker is on the side. So it won't be so wide, would it be OK if the sticker was vertical (on its side) instead of horizontal? Do you prefer the sticker to be on the left or right?
Man, I really feel sorry for you guys, having to display that huge sticker like that. Here in Oregon, we have to pass an exhaust emission test, but being able to re-register is proof that we did and we just apply another year sticker to the plate. Someone's nephew is making $ off of your scheme there in Texas.
When I complete Dan's I will post photos of it.
