Not that I'm interested in buying it, but I'd like to see a photo of what you did, if its not too much trouble.

Hunt...Was dry and 50 today, so took it out and played with it. Came home about 3:30, just 10 minutes before the Rain Festival resumed. Great timing. Then took the w/s I bought from you apart and cut some off the bottom as I said I would and smoothed and polished all the edges as well as the surfaces. Never did this before, so watched a how to video and got beautiful results -like it was factory made.
Tomorrow I'll polish the chrome bits and reassemble it. I love projects and I thank you for the early delivery. Now I can't wait 'til summer to try it out.

Oh wow we were both productive today. I can't wait to ride up and see you in the spring and see the finished product.

This is what I accomplished

For what reason are ya tearing that VV down for? Painting? Winter maintenance? Had tools in your hands and couldn't stop?
That night, after you and Phil were here, while laying awake, I was planning how I was going to finish the edges on the w/s. The plan I came up with was to first use a wood rasp, then a palm sander with 50 or 60 grit and then a finer grit, then finer and finer mediums. I watched a youtube video with my am coffee and what do ya know, that's exactly what he recommends! And it worked!
Wishing Roseburg and Portland were closer, I enjoyed meeting the two of you.

Funny, I used to really like black bikes and that's about all I had except when I bought used and went for condition rather than color. I was going to buy a black XR until the test ride when the salesman was riding a midnight cherry Vision and I was on their black demo. We stopped for a break on the nice, long back country ride and parked the two side by side. The way that midnight cherry sparkled in the February sun, compared to what I was seeing on the black bike, there weren't no way I was not gonna get a red one and so glad I did. I can be parked in a bunch of bikes and mine is the one civilians come up to and heap with compliments.
Having said that, if I had a black bike, I'd be getting it conservatively pinstriped
with orange-ish red stripes.

I hear ya VJ. The edge was pretty rough - a work in progress. See my earlier post for the process I used. What I didn't describe (cuz I hadn't done it yet) was taking a hell-for-stout plastic polish to the edges, then a milder one, and finishing with and extremely mild plastic polish. The edge is like glass now. Told ya I'm fussy.

I can't wait to see this thing! You all are making me want to get a house with a garage so I can work on projects too!! I'm limited with what I can do. But I'm waiting to see what work has in store for me. I may not have time to work on a bike if I have to travel a lot!

Shorty windscreen

What is the actual height of the shield ? Headlight cutout to top tip ?.....Looks interesting ?
Height is 13-3/4". My 7Jurock flip w/s is 20" so my new shorty will provide lots of air conditioning on those hot days - should they ever return.
The last photo shows that I shortened the bottom too for greater air flow.

I'll be putting on the bike later today and will take photos and post 'em. I'll provide the height then too. There will be no ride report at 37 degrees and raining. That might come sometime next July.
