Looking for some advice here. I want to replace my stock windshield with a Windvest windshield. The question is size. I'm 5'11". According to their chart, an 11" windshield is recommended. That seems a little tall to me. Anyone out there of similar size to me have experience on what size you use and recommend? I don't mind a little wind in the hair, but I am wanting to deflect as much wind/rain around me (especially in colder riding months here in Minnesota).
If you prefer a different windshield than Windvest, I'm open to your recommendations there as well!
I'm 6'2" and am running the 9" but I have had the 11" , it may be too tall for you . I would recommend the 10" actually for your height . I like the shorter shield for the warmer temps , but now I wish I was running the 11 ...
Thanks LILMAGS500. One question: With the 11" and your height, I'm assuming you aren't looking through the windshield and your eyes are just over it. Is there a fair amount of "eye clearance" above the windshield using that size for you?
Depends on if you slouch. If so then, yes, the 11" may be a bit tall. If you tend to ride with good back posture you should be just fine with the 11". I'm 5'10" and do well will with a 13" but would be fine with an 11".
You can always trim an inch or two off but you can't add any.
I'm 6' and using the 11" Windvest I thought the bubble was just a little too low. I switched to a Gustafsson 12" Euroflip and its perfect.(I see fully over both)
At 5' 11" the 11" Windvest will probably be great for you
I'm 6'-1" using the 10" windvest. Kinda wish I had the 11" at 65mph there is a lot of wind banging around my head. Although that could be the empty space between my ears. I look well over the 10", you don't even notice it after a while
Thanks for the input, everyone. After reading these, I'm leaning toward the 11". Now I have to convince my wife this would be a great B-day gift! :laugh
does the windvest keep the wind off your head ? there looks like there is a little up curve that redirects air flow? i have the stock wondshield and i look through it not over it but it keeps the wind off my head. i like the look of the windvest but wont spend the money if my head is going to get bounced around.

I think he though you had an XC with the 6" screen , not realizing you have a Tour .... You will love the WV in warmer temps for a little more airflow and your head WILL NOT SHAKE , I run the 9" WV and love it .
I'm running a 11in windvest. I'm 6ft and i have so much buffeting that I welcomed the change back to the stock shield. can anyone explain to me whats going on?
Im 6'2" and have a 10 right now. 12 should be at my house on Monday so I will give a comparison between the two if anyone is interested. I am using fork lowers as well. 10 works fine but I'm just looking to see if I can get a little bit less wind. Come Tuesday, one of the shields will be up for sale.
Put the 12" on and it works perfectly for me. My chin is right at the top of the windshield when I am riding but due to the design of the windshield, it shoots all of the wind away from my face. Big improvement over the 10" for my size, but I am all upper body. 32" inseam at 6'2".
I used the MadStad brackets with the stock shield and it worked like a charm! I just hated the way it looked. I had the KW and MadStad but the concave part of the shield was directly in my line of sight.
I figured that since I started this thread, I'd better report in. Today I installed a new 11" Windvest and took the bike out for a test ride. It's the perfect height for my 5'11" height. The wind came just a couple of inches over my head. At 75 MPH down the freeway (with a helmet), my head got jostled a little bit, but very tolerable.thumb up
I'm shocked you had any wind with the lowers on and the 11" .... I have the 9" and love it , not much turbulence at all . Looks great on your bike ! thumb up
I'm 6-1 with a 32" inseam. I have lowers and the 11" Windvest. The wind was hitting just above my visor. Speeds over 70 caused some bobble head action and vibration.
I'm thinking part of the problem might just be my helmet. It's an open style with no chin/jaw protection, but an attached visor. I had similar issues on my Harley. It also has a low-profile windscreen. At high speeds, the jostling would start. A friend of mine was recently in a motorcycle accident and he's been hounding me to get a full face helmet. He went down going 30 MPH when a dog ran out in front of him. It's amazing the damage to him, his helmet and his bike at 30 MPH. (No, it wasn't a Victory.) I'm thinking it's time for a new helmet.
