I found a fairly close match at AutoZone for the Boardwalk Blue paint. It's not exact, but for $6 I ain't complainin'. I've done a little experimenting and I think it's going to be a unique look.
Stay tuned, I pick up a couple small pieces-parts tomorrow and shall be hittin' them up with some paint...
Looking at Vics early on, the forged bars always grabbed my attention (that and the tank badge). I relate to blue completely, but I have to admit, my first up close and personal look at a Vic was a Boardwalk blue Tourer. My inner self said toooooo much blue. So, I opted for the blue/silver. I am completely happy with my choice. That much said, since you removed the hard lowers and swapped out the crash bars for the forged bars . . . I can't quit looking at the pic of your bike. The transformation is stunning! Just one guy's opinion. I think ya did good. cheers
I made a swap on the Vic Buy/Sell group. Originally I was trying to sell just the lowers but keep the tubular bars. Up came a fella who wanted the entire lowers set with bars and would trade me the forged bars with some cash. We made it work and we were both better off for it. We both got what we wanted.
That's a mighty fine compliment, thanks for the input.
Also repainted the engine cover I got from @Dank with this new blue, then re-sanded the ridges down to get the raw aluminum back. I really can't wait to see it in the sun. Too bad it's supposed to be rainy tomorrow...
Had a 900 vulcan I added a bat wing fairing to. The Kawasaki paint to match was crazy $$$ A fellow I know owns a bump shop. I went by and talked to him. He thought we could probably match something up as good. He also told me due to the bike being aged a bit (maybe a year or so at that time) the color rite may not match exact. He matched it up with some house of color paints. Looked factory to me.
Very nice. For durability, and located within a few feet of your blue at Autozone, is the VHT wheel clear coats. I love that stuff. I use the VHT Wheel Matte Clear for matching little stuff to my suede titanium. I've only used the gloss coat a few times on other stuff but should be just as good.
Duplicolor has the same product but I've come to prefer the VHT for off the shelf clear coat.
Did something similar as you did with the body color around the outside.
Gosh Jim that is a sharp-lookin' bike.
I looked at the VHT but the color for me wasn't quite there. @visionjohnny suggested caliper paint, and the blue was kind of close so that is what I used to paint my engine cover the first time. Then I found this Rustoleum and it was a hair closer.
keep in mind the primer color you chose can affect the outcome of the color. gray can give you a lighter color where black will give you a darker color
I used a gray primer. Probably should have used a black one. Oh well, it's all done now.
