After some searching in this forum, I didn't find where anyone mentioned this tire. If anyone has tried it, I'd appreciate your impression. Also interested in comparing it with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport and/or the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60.
Ideally, looking for a smooth ride, 20K+ miles, grip on wet roads, and as rounded as can be expected with a car tire on a bike. (Who isn't?! :wink )
Someone here did get a Goodyear Eagle and he seemed to like it pretty well. I like the tread design a lot. The only downside to a winter tire is they don't last as long as an all year tire due to the softer compound. After about 2/3 of the tread is gone they usually have standard all year rubber compound so it will wear somewhat slower.
You might find more info on the Goldwing Darkside Riders forum.
From everything I have read there all good. Most buy run flat for that extract security. I don't think there is one better then the other. If its something you like buy it.
Your hard part will be finding aftermarket shop that will mount it. Then you have to decide what air to run. There is a some that run 32 psi all the way to 40 psi. I run 40 and have even tread wear from one side to the other.
Yes you can still scrape the boards but not scraping doesn't make you less of a rider.
I had one on my Goldwing back before I got the Victory and got 32,000 miles out of it. When I went to order a new one was told they stopped making it so I moved on to a Michelin and now a Yokohama.
As I remembered it was a good riding tire but that was a long time ago, might have to tire it again some day. Whats nice about htis tire is it has a rounder profile vs a Dunlop Wintersport that's more squarish .
