i have been chasing an intermittent no start on my 2011 cross roads for about 14 months. some times when i turn on the key and the kill switch no fuel pump heard and it cranks but wont fire up? when i go to test the fuel pump wiring with test light the bike starts?so i thought maybe the pump isnt getting power sometimes, checked fuses and relays o.k. so i ran a jumper wire to the fuel pump wire harness so i could put power to fuel pump if i was ever out and got stuck. then the other day it wouldnt start so i thought no problem just put power to the pump wire and i can get home, well no luck pump runs, cranks but still no start, found no spark either when this happens. found when pump dont run i dont have turn signals also?? well the turn signal flasher unit module must control spark and fuel pump also. i put new flasher and all is good now, so if you dont hear the fuel pump check turn signals, then replace flasher under rt side cover. rich from n.j.

For the turn signals to work, the kill switch needs to be in the run position and functioning. If I'm reading you correctly, seems like your kill switch is the issue. Try some spray contact cleaner or replace the switch.

Intermittent electrical problems are the most frustrating to me.

In reading the description of the problem I let my mind kind of trace the problem. What I came up with as a first check is the main breaker. Sometimes they go out all at once which leaves a person stranded but is easy enough to diagnose then sometimes they go out gradually and sometime don't make contact.

It's located near your battery's positive lead behind the cowling. They are also a known issue with X bikes as is the flasher unit you mentioned.
