Softer seat on XC than on XR?

Is it my imagination, or does the XR have a firmer feeling seat cushion that the Country?

I have an XR but hope to trade up in the next few days and tempted to swap seats. I've sat and ridden the XC and it seems like the seat on the XC is mushier...........

Is it me?

If you go to the above link (vic online parts book). They are the same part number. Therefore no difference

Exclamation NOT your imagination!

The XC has a much softer & wider seat than the XR, as I have traded w/someone for their XR seat b/c I liked the cleaner lines of the "thinner" seat & he wanted the softer & wider seat off my XC b/c he is a big guy and does alot of 2up riding... BIG difference between the two in looks and feel.

I have a 2010 XR which has the same seat as the XC. However, in 2011 they changed the seat making it thinner to give more room to open the soft bags. The hard bags open out-wards but the soft bags open in-wards.

It was also discussed in this thread as well 2010 vs 2011 Cross Roads Seat

I posted on the Cross Riders Forum, got a reply, and in 2 weeks and $60 shipping I got the seat I wanted, and so did the other guy... sure beats the hell outta payin' $500 for a new one! You'll prob have no prob finding one in this forum, it seems to be a LOT busier!

There's some wrong info floating in this thread, so with the hope of not hurting anyone's feelings, I will add the following:

The passenger part of the seat is different (narrower) on the XR (2011 & newer) than the XC. The driver part of the seat is identical on both models. The XR has a narrower passenger seat to allow the soft bags to be opened.

Please add your bike's year and model to your signature. Here's why.

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Nicely stated. I have the 2011 XR which came with the soft bags. I wanted the hard bags and the dealer was willing to swap the bags for the difference (250.00). For the seat swap I was on my own, luckily Whitie and I were able to get what we each wanted for shipping cost only. I find the seats to be exactly as you describe CrossRoads
