What did you do to your Cross Bike today?

I also frequent a Wrangler TJ forum - there is a thread similar to this there and it has 1,000s of responses. You can get ideas and learn from what others are doing with their toys - so, lets see if it works here...

I'll start.
I installed the 1/4 turn throttle from Lloyds. I did not find it as easy to put in as some others...getting the nut and lock nuts loose was easy. But when I took the throttle assembly apart there was a bottom piece not discussed in the video and another screw under the bottom plate that needs to come out. Also if you do this mod - cut off all the zip ties on the cables/wires so you can get enough slack to get the throttle handle off the bars. Getting the cable stops in their holes was an interesting process - it was awesome when i did, but it took 10 minutes of fiddling. All told it took about 35 minutes for me to get the whole thing done including re-zip tying - I could do it alot faster now that I learned the process.

How do i like it? ALOT!
There is no slop in my throttle now nice and tight from turn to end of turn - the best part is it got rid of my "driveline slop" I thought that maybe my belt was loose or something else...now when I release the throttle and re-engage the throttle there is no lurch at all. Like when going down a hill and the engine breaking stops and pushes the bike forward it is tight and smooth as is using the throttle in low speed maneuvers - the mod was worth it just for this improvement! thumb up
I also like how the throttle feels alot more than stock - it is a little more that half as far a twist from idle to full throttle - does not feel twitchy or sensitive - just right.
i highly recommend this mod!!
A heads up the part costs $19.99 - Witchdoctor wanted $21 to ship this little thing out :crzy:
Lloyds was $12 for shipping - still high for a 1 oz part that would ship USPS for $3...but that's the way it is - still worth it

I had very little wind management issues with my XCT.. I just changed windshields in winter and summer and I was fine. May that bike rest in peace

Replaced the tail light on the trunk. The original one, with near 60,000 miles and five and a half years on it, stopped working unless I would smack it just right. It is not user serviceable, as it is a sealed unit, but it is easy to replace. Cost on Victory's site is $138.xx, but Paulie gave me a better deal.

Finally had some time to install my Speed Bleeders and my EBC HH front brake pads. I cant believe what a difference both have made. So simple now to bleed the brakes by myself. These EBC pads really make a big difference, glad I didn't buy one for the back. Think I will go with a regular pad for the back. No more spongy break lever or squealing brakes.

Changed my clock from 12hr to 24hr time...the way it should be :nerd

Arriving today (scheduled and on track per UPS) is my order from Paulie. Tomorrow morning I shall post of HID headlight, highway pegs, Klock Werks windscreen, and sporting more Victory schwag :grin

I'm so busy with the bike today.....this is horrible :ltr:
While I was posting the cam results my package arrived from VictoryOnly.com..... I got a K&N oil filter, four shifter bushings, red gas cap bolts and a set of cam bolt covers to replace the ruined ones form the cam job.

I like those cap bolts.. but i got ride of the locking cap.. hated it

Black led beacon headlight arrived yesterday. I'll get the HID ballasts and bulbs removed from stock headlight this weekend and make the swap. Free up some space inside my fairing.

Factory/OEM HID system or aftermarket? How many miles on the HID system? Any glazing of the headlight reflector and/or lens?

Got my new fire sale comfort grips mounted. Had to modify them to get them to work with my Lidlox, but they turned out good. Look good, feel great, and kind of match my Kuryakyn Kinetic floorboards.

Well I wanted to move my earphone jack to a more accessible place up on handle bars. I sometimes when solo use earbuds. Especially when my home made bluetooth wants to be a PIA. So It was in lower Lt fairing by IPod so had to split the leg fairing. No small chore as I have highway pegs and driving lights that have to come off.
So while I'm there I says 'hey it only been in the 100+ heat index for months just take them off". So I work that direction, only to remember that the dumb a$$ the put the LED strip lights on either buried the connectors for them under the gas tank or I just didnt put any in. Well tank is full right now so maybe next week I'll look into that and the fuel filters laying on the bench. Geez I hate when I out smart myself.

Had fun with a friend's XCT today. Changed the oil & filter; installed Speed Bleeders and flushed the brakes; installed an extension hose to the rear shock so the side cover does not need to be removed; drilled out the muffler baffles. He's one happy camper tonight.

installed an extension hose to the rear shock so the side cover does not need to be removed
I've had an extension for this air hose for a long time(at least two seasons now) I just have not gotten around to installing it....I did try once but something frustrated me and I couldn't find a new place for the nipple.
@RICZ ...do have a pic or could you tell me where\how you mounted the extension? I change rear shock pressure frequently and this would make it much more convenient and save wear on the side panel grommets. thx

I routed mine to the left side of the bike right next to the side cover behind the engine. I followed the directions of some one else had posted. Works great because I am also constantly changing pressure. It did get kinked up once and had to remove the seat to fix it.

#6,818 ·
I believe @wspollack put it through the side cover but I don't want to go that route. You wouldn't happen to have a link to this instruction thread....would you?

So today I attacked the fuel filter job. I needed to pull the tank to fix a wiring over site I made with LED strip lights so I could remove the lower fairings.
So I bought the Quantum fuel filters. You do need to fold it over and secure it as they are made for the King Pin or something and for the cross bikes they just folded them over and heat sealed them. My old filter really didnt look bad.
I matched the filters up, folded it over and just ran a zip tie around it to hold it. Dont cinch i down to tight as I think you would cut down on your intake surface area. Then you have to get the old filter off. By watching the video that was linked a few days back I just slit the tube only to the second groove. Then it came off pretty decent and would leave me a bit uncut to grab top of new filter. To secure I figured a zip tie would work just fine here also. You could use a regular fuel line clamp I suppose.
Also serviced my air filter. Removed the lowers, as we probably have another 5 months of summer. I may put them back on when we go north in Oct. Moved the IPod connection so I can just put the IPod in the RAM mount for the phone. Worked OK on short test ride today.

I rode a new (to me) XCT 700 miles (all interstate) from Albany, NY to Marion, VA. That leaves me just ~3 hrs of planned riding tomorrow to take it to its new home near Hendersonville, NC. After stopping for the night on a whim at a small dive motel in Marion, I was googling for a place to eat and have a beer for dinner and saw that fortuitously, I had stopped in the southern terminus of the Back of the Dragon. Rather than just go to Hendersonville, NC tomorrow, I think I will run north up the BoTD for ~45 min. and then back down south before going the 3 hrs to my destination. Should be a good day tomorrow. Today was chilly in the morning (60 F) and never got above 80 F. I dodged a lot of rainstorms and didn't hit rain until the last 20 minutes so today was also a good day. Bike ran well and I averaged for the time I was riding exactly 70 mph for the 697 miles. I only stopped for gas and to put on/off rain gear so had a total stop time of about 1 hr during the day so I made good time. Had a nice pizza for dinner at the 27 Lions here in Marion along with a couple of very nice craft IPA draughts. If you are ever in Marion, I recommend this place for a meal... or just a beer.

G'day,

Vinish

Old guys lunch ride

Friend and XCT owner Barry and I did a lunch ride about 45 miles east on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge to Skamania Lodge, a huge resort / hotel / conference center on a hillside overlooking the river.
Enjoy the pics of the two oldsters (Barry is the one with hair) at an overlook and the view of the river from our table at the Lodge.
