I also frequent a Wrangler TJ forum - there is a thread similar to this there and it has 1,000s of responses. You can get ideas and learn from what others are doing with their toys - so, lets see if it works here...

I'll start.
I installed the 1/4 turn throttle from Lloyds. I did not find it as easy to put in as some others...getting the nut and lock nuts loose was easy. But when I took the throttle assembly apart there was a bottom piece not discussed in the video and another screw under the bottom plate that needs to come out. Also if you do this mod - cut off all the zip ties on the cables/wires so you can get enough slack to get the throttle handle off the bars. Getting the cable stops in their holes was an interesting process - it was awesome when i did, but it took 10 minutes of fiddling. All told it took about 35 minutes for me to get the whole thing done including re-zip tying - I could do it alot faster now that I learned the process.

How do i like it? ALOT!
There is no slop in my throttle now nice and tight from turn to end of turn - the best part is it got rid of my "driveline slop" I thought that maybe my belt was loose or something else...now when I release the throttle and re-engage the throttle there is no lurch at all. Like when going down a hill and the engine breaking stops and pushes the bike forward it is tight and smooth as is using the throttle in low speed maneuvers - the mod was worth it just for this improvement! thumb up
I also like how the throttle feels alot more than stock - it is a little more that half as far a twist from idle to full throttle - does not feel twitchy or sensitive - just right.
i highly recommend this mod!!
A heads up the part costs $19.99 - Witchdoctor wanted $21 to ship this little thing out :crzy:
Lloyds was $12 for shipping - still high for a 1 oz part that would ship USPS for $3...but that's the way it is - still worth it

I did nothing! Too much rain to ride here. I did take an afternoon nap though. :crzy:

I'm typing in a Subway sandwich shop in Newcastle, WY about 300 miles from where I started and about 400 to get through to get where I am bound. I just saw 50 degrees finally on the gauge so maybe I'll shut off the hand warmers. I hope I don't hit any more snow or rain.

Been there - hate rain, LOATH snow. I had to go over a mountain pass to get home (Lake Tahoe/Echo Summit). It started snowing and hailing hard - I had to ride in the tracks of the Ford 150 right in front of me (this was late May). talk about white knuckle riding - when we got out of the snow and back to rain at a lower elevation - I liked rain for a short time...
Good luck Pop and take your time - even consider a hotel if it gets bad -

Installed the Victory Lock and Ride backrest on my brand new XC. Pretty simple install, though I have to admit removing the saddle bags and taking the saddle bag supports off was a very delicate operation. Delicate only because I didn't want to scratch or ding anything on my brand new bike... My wife and daughter really like the backrest though... So it's all good.

Next up will be installing the Ness Flip Windshield. It should arrive tomorrow... I don't anticipate this being a big deal to do, but I'm really hoping it makes a big difference in air flow/ head buffeting.

By the way, I'm the member of several Jeep forums... More focused on JK's though. Just Empty Every Pocket... Motorcycles have the same affect... :p

I have the backrest also. If you don't plan on taking off often you may want to put a small bolt, washer and nut on each side ( there are holes) so no one can just pull the tabs up and walk away with a $450. part....I did that first day and it has never been off - I carry a cooler all the time on the rack.
The bags come off very easy - lining up the twist pegs to re-install can be interesting ....

Nope, it ain't working here, but at least you tried. Maybe because the whole forum really is about who made what mods and how, or who fixed what broke, and how. ;)

Exactly! Also regular maintenance stuff that others may be over looking and could benefit from. This would not be the right place for questions on how to do some repair etc. But discussing a mod install or even just your changing the transfer case ATF, what you used and how it is shifting after etc...
I learned a lot of stuff concerning mods and maintenance on my TJ -

Regardless, I learn a lot here cheers

Hi,
I just installed HID lights in my 12' XC. I bought them from VictoryHID They arrived really quick. It was an easy install, I did go to the local NAPA shop and bought some Velcro to keep the HID housing from jiggling around. Funny, when I am cruising along and I hit the Hi-beam, the radio restarts. It only does it a couple times, and then it acts normal. I assume its after it warms up. Anyway, I am 100% happy with the brightness, whole new world out there. thumb up

I also took the seal off of the frame for the air filter. Makes it a little more noisy, I am not sure how I like it. Once the weather makes up her mind I will take it on a longer ride and figure it out.

Funny you should ask! Today, I removed the clutch lever and cleaned and lubed the pivot bushing in and out and did the same with both ends of the cable.

I did a new Mitchlin Tire on the rear of my XCT Saturday. After the tire install I got in a 70 mile ride in warm weather. Sunday wasn't so nice, but Monday was GREAT. After work, I picked up my wife after she got off work and got in another nice ride in the country.
Monday was a 75* perfect riding day, with very little traffic.

Yeah Orbiker, its finally our turn for some nice riding weather, while other parts of the country suffer.

Finally pulled off the factory windshield and installed the touring saddle last night. Also figured out why the aux lights weren't working (switch was unplugged ) and fixed that. Still need to adjust the clutch and throttle and if I have time to do it I will be picking up an oil filter, changing the oil, and flushing the brakes. Kinda basic new-used bike maintenance for me. Should be decent weather around here this weekend so me and the mrs are hoping to get out and put some decent (read: not commuting) miles on the new toy.

Installed right side Rusty Jones cheese wedge, Ill do the left tonight as the key location pig tail is shown to be delivered.

Don't know if I like the new wedges yet, I picked them up used for a fair price. Great quality, might be a little blingy for me, might change the SS screen to black..

Had an OEM Dunlop with Dynbeeds put on the front. It's amazing too! With 2000 miles on the rear and a brand new front, the bike handles like its on rails! I can't imagine what it would be like if I installed superior tires. (That's sarcasm if anyone is unsure). I don't care what tires or oil folks use.:ltr:

Had to park my new 2014 xct per dealer alert regarding possible seizure, due to crankshaft problem. Under investigation, no fix yet. No direct alert from Victory, I know they are better than that!
Keep us posted. Anyone else:confused: know about this?

Donzo...I don't know where in "Norcal" you live, but brake fluid can absorb moisture from the air. If you live in SF or the north coast towns, your fluid is vulnerable. In fact, as soon as you open a container of brake fluid, it starts sucking up moisture from the air.
If you still have the OEM pads, and you switch to EBC HH pads, you will be eating your words. Vic pads have been described as "wooden" and I think that's a perfect term for them compared to the HH pads.

Hey Ritz - I live in the foothills of the Sierra half way between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe - pretty dry. But I have heard to buy small bottles of Dot 4 because of possible water contamination - I'm gonna play it safe.

Can you explain better (eating my words) concerning oem brake pads and others? I still have my stock pads....are you saying the EBC HH pads are better/worse , safer/less safe in an emergency braking situation? I am eager to learn more concerning my favorite ride!

Thanks cheers

Donzo...Been riding over 62 years and have replaced many OEM pads with so called premium ones with little improvement. When I replaced my Vic's pads with EBC HH (per a personal email from one of the road testers at a motorcycle mag) the improvement was DRAMATIC to say the least. I resisted putting them in the rear cuz I didn't want it to lock up.

Tri Oval stage 1

Fitted a set of Tri-Ovals and had the dealer do the stage 1 flash of the ECU.

LOVING IT - now the bike sounds like it looks, and they look great, not at all like and 'aftermarket add on' on the Hardball.
:)

A couple years ago, one of the bike mags got a Cross bike for a long term test and in the first article, the brakes were described as "wooden." He added that he'd be testing various pads, so I emailed him asking if he'd let me know what he came up with. I received an email from him about a month later, telling me he liked the EBC HH pads, so I went with those, much to my delight. In other words; I have no thoughts about the Lyndalls cuz I never experienced them. But I can highly recommend the EBC HH.

I know what I didn't do today:

I didn't ride it because I've read that if I did, I could experience a significant and possibly catastrophic failure of the motor, which may cause a near death or total death experience. :ltr:

Not a great way to start the weekend...:crzy:

Just got the "All Clear" from my Victory dealer!!:Dthumb up

I'll be back on the new Iron Horse after work today. :ride:

I just completed a large mod....when I put the 1/4 turn on I broke my throttle rest when taking it off - got the new one ....and installed!:D Once you start using one of the throttle assists, you always want one on...

The re-call sucks for the new bike owners, hope Vic gets on it fast - it's the best riding of the year....

What broke? Inquiring minds want to know.
