Has anyone tried this in the CC ? I have a 2013 CC and want to add a amp. I also just added a trunk as well. So do I need a amp for 2 or 4 channels ?

I am runnimg a 4 channel Picasso and love it. The SQ is much better then the Rockford. The only con is that the amp is a little larger but will fit with no problems.

How did you run the power for the amp ? Anything else I need to know about installing it ? Did you Make a plate for it to screw to inside the fairing ?

I baught the plate from V-Twin. I ran power and ground straight from the battery. I'm running 2 Hertz up front and 2 Polk MM691UM's in the bags on quick disconnect from the bags. I'm contemplating on putting another set of Polks in the bag. I'm consulting a audio friend to see if it's possible to run another set without adding a amp. I'm either running them in series or parallel, I have to find out what works.

I ran the Soundstream on my Road King. Great little amp. I ran 4 5.25 Polk Audio marine speakers and system sounded great. Running the RF on my XCT with PA 5.25's in the fairing and 6.25's in the bag lids. Sounds great also. I'm sure there are those that are running way better n more powerful systems but I'm happy with mine for the $ invested.

Okay I have put it off long enough. I will ask some stupid questions..
Undestand I know nothing about stereo equip... If I run the amp to the Battery for power how does the amp power off ? Also are the speakers wires marked ? And does the amp hook into the CC stereo easy ? thanks for any help. Pictures would be great.

The amp has a remote wire which you hook up to a switched power source, so the amp goes on when the ignition is on and off when you turn the key off. The wires are not marked but if you do a search someone posted the colors and polarity of the speaker wires. You can use the speaker wires from the CC and hook it up to a line output converter and use RCA jacks which makes everything nice and clean and you get better sound quality. It's very easy to install, just take your time and and make sure you have everything before you start the project. It should take you about 1 1/2 hour to change out the speakers and add the amp.

Thank you for responding. I am all set with the wiring except 1 thing..

the power on off.. So I run my ground and Pos to the battery. The ground hooks directly to the amp. The power needs to get hooked into someplace that turns on and off with the key. Now according to wiring diagram they is a Power wire that just says accessory on it so I could use this for Power ? Or can I tape into the radio power wire with the fuse on the end ?

There are 3 positions on the amp. They are for possitive, negative and remote. The possitive and negative come striaght from the battery. The remote needs to go to a switched power which I forgot what I used. Just get a test light and see which wire is a switched power, meaning goes on and off with the key.

Thanks for Helping out. I got the amp Installed last night. It was really easy once I got the line output thing. Thanks again for your help.. Now I need new Speakers.

I really like the Hertz or Focal's but they are expensive. I've had my Hertz now for almost 5 years. I transplanted them from my HD and still kicking.

You guys running speakers in the bag lids and 4 channel amps... How is the sound? Can you clearly hear it at 75-80 mph? I just bought my 14XC and previous bike was HB with earbuds for tunes. First ride on the XC I was so irritated by not being able to hear the tunes! It pisses me off. Any learnings you guys can share are much appreciated. I will be using Vtwin Audio out of BC for my supplies and they will also be doing my lids.

I'm running a 4 channel. I bought a trunk. So I have 2 speakers in the fairing and 2 in the trunk. I think This system is very loud. I am a heavy metal Guy and when on full blast it makes my ears hurt.. I just got home from a 2300 mile trip and I listened to Football and baseball games going down the highway at 80 with no issue about being able to hear it.

TravisP,
I had a hard time hearing the radio 65+when I first got the bike too. After installing the Madstad windshield I can run up to 100 and still hear the radio clearly

Thanks Newj... I am one vain fella however and the look of the madstad is not for me. I am instead lowering my seat height 1.5" and going to try the Arlen Ness flip shield. It supposedly will put the dirty air 3 inches. At only 5'9" that should put my right in the "pocket". I am also doing the stereo regardless of that outcome. I have wanted a bad ass bagger for years. I think a big wheel, big stereo, custom bagger oozes awesomeness. Although my Highball was a real head turner as well!

I think Travis and I have a lot in Common. I will try and get some audio of stock stereo vs mine with the amp. I haven't done speaker upgrades yet but soon that will happen.

Buy good speakers would be my advise. I have 2 in the fairing and 2 in my bags, at 80 you can hear them but there is a lot of wind buffering. Standing still or under 60 they are loud. The amp is a snug fit in the fairing on the Vtwin mounting plate. No complaints here.

I made my own mounting brackets out of alum. Bent them to the shape i needed to get the amp to fit in easy.

I will post some pictures later with the mount...

for as cheap and easy as it is to install. Its a great investment and vast improvement from what it was before.

#23 ·
I would say add a 4 channel amp and upgrade to the 6.5" speakers of high quality... That way it's easy to add 2 more later on. Once the wife gets up to speed on riding you guys might want to tour a little. Once you start touring your going to want a razor tour pack!

Pacman, where did you hook the remote line into? My amp comes in tomorrow so just wondering where you found a line to splice into.

Install question

After reading all of the posts regarding speaker/amp upgrades, this is my next one. I just bought a SS PN4.520 amp. I have never installed an amp before but, from what I have picked up from others, it seems like I should be able to pull it off. The one question I have is: What line out converter do I use? I have seen a couple different PAC models mentioned on the forums...which one do I get?

Any advice?

There are a few of us on here that run those SS amps. We all just order these line converters off Amazon for $15

im running the 4x1000 nano. it will push anything you put on it. with the yeti mod, and the extra set of tweeters in the grills i usually keep my volume at 13 so everyone around me can hear it. have polk 5.25s in the fairing, and kickers in the factory spots. think im going to get a set of punch 6.75s and wedge 4 of them in the fairing. not sure how im going to do it yet tho.

#29 ·
Whats the Yeti Mod and are you blowing speakers? I have that same amp and keep blowing speakers after a few months with it. Im using the 6.5" kickers right now and sound like crap. Had the ARC Moto and Infinity before that. I've actually been wondering about changing out the amp and going with some Hertz.
