Looking at the "New" Harley it seems that Harley stole there ideas direct from Victory's Gunner right down to the green paint and pipes.

Yes but the Gunner has a cleaner look, is probably a better bike, no air filter at your knee. But it sure does look like it. I would take that as a compliment with Harley copying Victories. By the way, what is that bike called?

What are they calling it.....:)

They are calling it the Slim-S.

We can collaborate on the acronym later.
They can call it that, we can call it

Skinny Slummer.

Yea but if the Gunner came with some of the stuff that the Soft tail-S came with the price would be close... 110 Engine, ABS, Cruse, larger gas tank Security system, Tee shirt ++ ECT ECT...:wink

The paint theme shown in the OP must be one of the HD customs. The bike comes in red, charcoal grey, olive gold (guessing that's the colour shown in OP) denim black, charcoal pearl and vivid black.

It's also a 103ci.

I've seen military themed motorbikes (albeit not factory) since long before I hopped on my first one.

I love the Gunner, but I really dig the grittiness if the Slim S. If it rides anything like the Fatboy... It'll be a hot seller.

They sent me an email stating the most powerful cruiser lineup for 2016. The FatBoy is also available (in S trim) with a 110. That's good news for Vic owners as they always one up HD in displacement thumb up
I love competition...

I can't recall the details but isn't the 110 HD right in the same ballpark HP & TQ wise as the performance cam'd 106s that come on all the Victory cruisers? I know the Cross bikes have a milder cam but coulda sworn that all the cruisers had a bit hotter CAM right from the factory, right?

The 110 sounds good on paper but a lot of the more experienced HD guys like the 103 with the Stage III kit better for quickness and rideability.

I agree; it is a good looking bike. As said; competition is a good thing. HD really needs to make sure the drive train is solid with no recalls though. They've been having too many for the last few years.

They are also due for a major engine re-design. This one is 17 years old now. Only the Panhead has gone this long before. Even the hardcore HD faithful have been wanting a water cooled V-Rod type motor in a touring bike for years now. Maybe it's time to give them a couple.

Seems like HD has pushed the envelope with the Twin Cam design for about as long as they could. I personally think the 103 is a better motor than the 110 but since I'm not riding either these days...

HD does know how to build some pretty production bikes. Personally I would give up some of the power and get an Evo in the late 1990's range. They were built solid. Met a guy in Sturgis who had 170k on his Heritage Softail without a rebuild. Just the usual lifter block change outs inherent in the design and other normal wear and tear items. He did say it was getting tired and about due for a full rebuild. Then I see the S&S motor still using the Evo design which tells me HD actually went backwards with the Twin Cam design but because their production numbers were getting so high; they had to do something which meant sacrificing reliability and building a cheaper made motor. This is exactly why I ride a Victory today.

I could have gone to the older Evo design but then I would have to sacrifice the power I wanted unless I was prepared to do a full rebuild. I like being able to cruise at 90 all day if the road allows. Then there's the handling and ride comfort. In both key categories, cruiser and bagger designs, Victory wins all day every day.

The Ultima EVO engines are American made, solid, reliable, and powerful. If you wanted 120-130 HP, it would be easy to get and the cost would be far less than you think.

Here ya go... $4,350 with free shipping...
Ultima El Bruto 120CI 130HP Engine Black Motor Evolution Style Fits Harley EVO | eBay

We dyno'ed the 113" version at a little over 120 HP last year. In a 475 pound bobber it was INTENSE!

I had no issues with the 2013 Fat Boy I rode. Well balanced, easy to ride, no issues with handling on my end...and comfortable (coming from a High Ball) to the point that I wasn't fatigued after a half a day in the saddle. Didn't have the get up my Vic has, but it was a good ride.

You can always rely on Harley for total originality,I was at their showroom last week perusing the latest models and saw a new breakout which looked nice with the optional extra rust inside the exhaust endpiece, which was nice.

I always really liked the Softail Slim.

This S-model makes it even MORE appealing. I don't take corners like a sport bike, so not too worried about ground clearance. I like the spoke wheels too (albeit it adds more to worry about).

Slim-S has retro all over it. Which I think the Gunner isn't about retro...or is it?

I don't know; I like it. I love all motorcycles that are done well; regardless of brand.

Gunner looks a bit too modern, trying to look retro/vintage. My $0.02.

The Gunner with the right things done could look super retro... Loose the scooter signal lights and replace with LED black bullets. Ditch those 2 massive exhaust cannons for some nice short shotguns or short radius pipes. Ditch the stock cheeseball handlebars for some mini apes. Loose the stock mirrors for some ness 4 point micros. Replace the cheese wedges with something decent looking other than 2 black plastic triangles. Get rid of the stock plastic airbox for TT's or S&S. Put a side mount license plate on and your done! Oh yeah loose the belt guard as well.
