My driveway to my driveway 1172 miles. The Cross Country was as comfortable on a long stretch of highway as it was in the mountain switchbacks. Started in Durango then rode the Million Dollar Highway loop.
I bet that was an awesome ride, during our vacation we drove from Santa Fe up to Pagosa Springs and through Durango and Cortez on our way to Moab. That was an absolutely gorgeous drive and the whole time I had wished I was on my bike! "Jealous"!
Beautiful part of the country. I bet is was a great ride! Thanks for sharing the pics!
I'd tried to plan a similar trip from Central Tx for this fall but wasn't able to round up a committed group for the trip. It's now an option for a spring trip assuming I can get some commitments. If not, I may just take the leap and do a solo trip. :ride:
I might be game for the fall, when were you thinking and how long? Not miles, days...long weekend etc. I have been wanting to do the HC myself. We have a family farm down in Clifton, could meet somewhere around there or Whitney.
Sweet! Did a loop from Denver - Gunnison- Durango - Ouray - Grand Junction - Leadville then back to Denver for six days back in June. I'm sure we were on some of the same roads. Only problem for me was that I was on a rented Ultra and not my Cross Country.
If you want to see a lot of pictures. Many in Colorado; check out my ride report. It was a 2 week trip from Oregon to Yellowstone to Colorado and back to Oregon.
It was on my 2005 Road King, 3 years ago.
