Cool StarterBike in AZ!

Hello Victory owners.

I recently took a course with TEAM AZ and am ready to buy my first bike. My Victory will come in good time, but I need a starter bike to make sure I am dialed it. I don't care about dropping a $1,000 bike while I am honing my skills. Does anybody out there have an old Honda/Kawa/Suzuki that I can cut my teeth on? Looking to stay in the $1,500 range. I'm in the Phoenix area.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Craigslist has a few. That is a pretty low price now a day. So finding one that hasn't been beat to death is difficult. Although, maybe you can find one that has a few scrapes but is still in good mechanical shape. If you go up to $2500-3000, your options are better.
You definitely do not want to be worrying about your bike being safe to ride along with getting familiar with riding. Especially here in Phoenix metro.
Here's a few I found.

Thanks for the advice. I have seen these on Craigslist. I like the Purple 97 Shadow for the price. I am hoping for my Victory by Fall. You have been great in helping. Thank you again. Happy New Year.

Good luck in your search. My first bike was an 09 Yamaha vstar 950, great bike for a starter but it only lasted 10 months now I have my 13 Vegas 8 ball, which I couldn't be happier with. just watch those other cars and don't take turns too fast. Be safe out there!

I would up your price a bit. You want your starter bike to be a good experience. Upon buying one I highly recommend a true safety check. Cables, brakes, battery, tires and tire pressure.

Be safe have fun.

I think $1500 is more than enough, my first bike cost me $400 (this was only about six years ago), and I rode it with few mechanical issues for 3 years! You just have to be patient and know what you're looking for (and perhaps be willing to get your hands dirty).

I took my test on my 2012 Hammer 8 Ball with about 200 miles on it(it had 5 miles when purchased). First street bike I ever owned.
