Took a 235 mile ride through the mountains up North today after this
it's to cold. Most of the ride was 27 degrees outside of Phoenix. Heading
south after this. Az rides north are the most scenic I think.
When I lived in Spokane, Washington. I rode a little throughout the winter if there was no ice/snow on the ground. I wore 1000gram snow boots and a snowmobile suit and full face helmet. It's surprising how well you can keep warm if dressed appropriately.
I guess you ride below 40 degrees your covering your oil cooler "right"
If you're going to do that put a lightbulb that creates heat under the motor so it makes for easier starting.
Don't forget to crack the throttle a 1/8" before starting so you don't take out your starter
At least a half hour before starting my bike, I place a space heater near the engine. That warms up the cylinders, oil and battery, making the start-up a lot easier on those things.
When the weather really gets cold here, I put a 45w electric heater that I made, under the bike and put a cover over the bike. It is ready to go on the coldest days.
It's really cold here in Houston. This morning, when I opened up my back door to clean my dog's water dish, only one mosquito flew in.
My bike fired right up.
