A week ago I got an email from victory for a sale on accessories, parts or apparel spend $1500 get $500 off so I jumped on it since I was already getting ready to order some crash bars so why not get some free swag also. Well I picked up my order from the dealer today. Got home started unboxing everything thought I did good with what I ordered. Some crash protection, LED headlight, hydraulic clutch kit, black levers and some other swag. Well on the Victory website the hydraulic clutch says that it installs in place of mechanical clutch; uses the stock clutch lever. And in the picture the lever is black also. Well not so true the stock lever is not swappable and after searching this site a black hydraulic lever is pretty much unattainable. Witchdoctors does sell a gunner style black clutch kit for about $250 for the set pretty pricey and I am not too wild about the holes drilled into the levers. So the blacked out levers I ordered are not compatible. However looking at the instructions from the levers it has a black hydraulic lever set listed as 2880935 or just the black hydraulic lever part 1912470 listed. Now searching these numbers returns nothing. So are these parts that were never produced or are going to be produced in the future?
No help here either but I'm guessing that is your only option, powder. I was disappointed also to find a black hydraulic line is not readily available. I was already ordering an extended brake line to fit my new bars so I had hoped to do them both in black. No such luck.
Rats, in the process of murdering out the front of my bike I did not even think about the hydraulic clutch line not being black. May just get some black heat shrink and cover up as much that is visible from the bars to under the tank as I can.I was going to get the saddlebag rails powder coated anyway, and in the process of seeking out a Powder Coating Shop. Which in my case is about three hours north in the Memphis area, since witchdoctors has ceased the painting services they were doing. Is powder coating a thicker layer than say having something painted. I have no experience with anything powder coated, just plasti-dipped or rattle canned. Just wondering how thick the powdercoating layer is?
Ive been researching braided line to replace my rear brake line that is possibly faulty... And I can get braid in any colour I like. So I dont see why you couldnt get it black.
I didn't looks to the depths but I searched pretty good. Hydraulic clutch line is an oddball. 10mm at reservoir and 3/16 I think at slave. If I wasn't in such a hurry to finish I prob would have ordered some heat shrink but I didn't.
Powdercoating is a bit thicker than paint and much more durable.
Make sure any threads or parts that requre clearance are masked or filled with a bolt or youll have the drama of tapping out the threads etc afterwards
Well CONQUEST CUSTOMS sells a hydraulic clutch line that you can pick the color of the line, banjo fittings and banjo bolts for a $100 looks like some heat shrink is in my future.
Do you have a link? All I could find on their site was front brake lines.
The slave end on the Vic's is an oddball size. I emailed the manufacturer of the line for Victory and they replied that the line is a proprietary item. They don't sell it to the general public.
surely a maker of hydraulic hoses could crimp any size fitting you like on within reason.
You dont have to go to a proprietry motorcycle accessories shop, go direct to a maker of hoses, in Australia I'm going to Pirtek, the manager at my local branch rides a Victory, so thats even more reason to go there.
At the conquest site from the home page look for the "cables" tab on the left. Also doing a google search for custom motorcycle hydraulic cables I know I came across a few that say they can match it up if you mail them your old cable.
We do not have the black clutch hose but we will have the black brake lines soon for our handlebars. As far as a black lever we do have them. You have to call in and ask for Robin and she can help.
Sucks about the line but cheapest options for the lever is to just powdercoat it black or paint it black. Both options cheaper than buying another lever and look just as good.
Dont waste your time painting it cos the paint will wear off from your hand/glove.
Powdercoat it the go, but make sure any theads of bushing surfaces are suitably masked or filled.
I took my rear brake line into Pirtek Hoses today so they can make me up a new one fully braided and incorporate a brake light pressure switch. (plain ol' stainless is ok by me)
I mailed mine to a powder coater this mourning before finding out about the WD's option. If I found the WD's first I would have just gone through them for the ease of the transaction. The powder coater should call me late Thursday or Friday with the price, unsure how much longer for the turnaround.
