I am currently unable to ride due to a friggin shoulder injury. I was wondering if leaving the battery disconnected for a long period of time will mess with the vfc settings or the tune i had done. I had to buy a battery this year and didnt want to leave it in the bike on a tender because I think that it killed the battery i bought last year. nothing worse than having a perfectly good bike just sitting there doin nuttin. Im goin insane.

That sucks Bro . I personally would leave the battery in the bike on a battery tender . The tender senses voltage drop and charges accordingly . This keeps the battery in an optimal state . To answer your other question , you can remove the battery and your bike and all its settings will be fine , sans your clock if equipped .

I'm tryin like hell ! But the health Nazi in my house will barely let me wipe my own ass . I left it on the tender over the winter but for some reason I think it ruined that battery. Thats when i called you March when it wouldnt start. 2nd battery in a year.

mine sits on the tender for 5 months never a problem.
turn your red kill switch to off. Now there is no power going any place.
How big of a tender do you have

Battery Tender Plus 12v. Battery Tender Plus Charger - Motorcycle Superstore

I bought it last year along with a battery. This was my first storage with it. I checked on it weekly and it appeared to be operating right. But when I started the bike it ran for a second stalled and had no power after that. Took it to get checked and battery was dead. Not saying the tender caused it but I figured I'd just charge it before I put it back in. Which may be awhile.:mad:

Ye, that sux having the bike sit there, especially after the weather has warmed up. I can sympathize with you because I I had two surgeries in December for brain cancer and went through radiation and chemo treatments which will be going on through October. I will finally be allowed to drive June 9. I have been riding my bicycle a lot to help with my balance, but I have to work on holding that Kingpin up without dropping it. BTW, I have been using the Battery Tender Jr throughout this ordeal with no problems. You must have something killing your battery. But you should be able to disconnect your battery with no problems.
