2017 New Models - There are none...

Just got the email on all the new models for 2017 and as you can see for yourself; nothing new for this year.

I'm neither disappointed or excited. Pretty much how I figured it would go this year.

New paint colors are pretty awesome.

Yes, because the Hammer S has "Racing style paint".

The real questions...
Does the engine still sound like a can of marbles?
Does the transmission still 'thunk' into each gear, or did it get a new-for-2017 "thwaack"?

I agree they don't need new models every year... but how about a better torque compensator, a slick shifting transmission, and instead of a muscular look... how about some actual muscle? Instead of 'muscle car inspired looks' how about 100 freakin' horsepower?

Just sayin'...

I think they should bring the Kingpin back.... Get rid of the Gunner as it's just a Highball, or get rid of the Highball and put mini apes on the Gunner.
The Vegas....
change the handlebars, wheels, front fender, and paint:
Highball
8-Ball
Gunner
Same bike w/styling variances.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it doesn't look like the regular XC has any new color options but the Magnum does have some new graphics I like.

It's all good. Victory/Indian/Polaris doesn't need to reinvent itself every year. They have done some amazing things for almost 20 years now just with Victory. Time to let the bikes and other products under the same umbrella sell themselves for a while.

They deserve a break after pushing so hard for so many years.

My wife'd cut somebody to get a red Vegas. We got the 8-Ball because she wanted another Vegas more than she wanted a red bike (she's a smart girl), then the '16s launched a few months later...

There was much profanity from that pretty, pretty face. :eek

On the XCT, the LED headlight is now standard. That seems to be the only difference.

The entertainment ctr was due for an upgrade or at least more options.Still uses an old Apple connector and no Blue Tooth. Would have been very minor to update this and make it an accessory or mode for older bikes.

Ditto on the KP return!

I was between the KP and Hammer when I bought my first Victory. Love the Hammer, but still would like to see the KP return.

BTW, love the 2017 Hammer! I think it looks great. :eek

I'd like to see the KP return too without losing another model. I was just taking a closer look at the Highball and gotta say the options look good with a sunset orange paint job or plain black and two different mag wheels plus standard black spoke wheels and black tires instead of the hard to keep clean whitewalls even though they do look good. As they say on the site; some like the show and shine look - some like the stealth look.

The Hammer S still looks good and with the available power options these days; it can run as powerful as it looks. I think I would go with the Lloydz stuff instead of the kit Victory offers now though. Just a personal thing. Some might like the warranty to stay good and go with the Vic Kit.

It looks like they blacked out the rear wheel on the all the Cross Countrys, Magnum (except X1?) and Cross Country Tour models...looks like they deleted the machined polished edges. It would have been nice to see new redesigned hand controls with a higher quality clutch cable. Redesigned foot controls eliminating the cheesy sloppy feel. A dimable dash back light, and redesigned easier to reach handlebar switches.

Got and e mail from my closest dealer that they are quitting Victory. I called to see what was up and they said they haven't even sold a 2016 this year. They also told me that Polaris was putting there emphasis on the Indians and kinda felt like the Victory only dealers got left holding the bag.

Hmmm, Greeson is where I bought my used '12 XCT. They were great to deal with via phone, etc. and gave me a good price. Its a shame they are going out of the Victory business.

G'day,

Vinish

The town where I bought 2 of my Vic's is doing okay as far as I know and they are pretty good to deal with. They even give me a standing 10% discount but the town where I live now has no idea how to do business. They won't budge on their prices even when I show them how much cheaper I can get them from another dealership in the midwest. Crazy. It has gotten to the point where I would rather do business at the other shop if I must than the more local shop due to their attitudes.

Sounds like you rode one that wasn't set up right. Big bikes are supposed to have some softness to the suspension but a lot of people stiffen them up. Thanks to the EPA and the left in general; the new bikes always run poorly until the EPA is slapped out of 'em even though most folks understand the necessity of some kind of regulation in that area. Then they run great and just get better with a few performance items. One great thing about the Victory engine is it's overbuilt but I think we have covered that ground before. Unlike another make I could mention; it won't grenade just because you do a few performance upgrades.

The rest can be compared to one other American made big bike but I don't like to do those kinds of comparisons even though I just did. By pointing to the poor engineering of one make doesn't improve the engineering issues of another. I don't have an engineering degree so I don't know what it would take to fix the trans in the Vic's. I can say my 04 KP shifts smooth as silk compared to my XC. It may be have something to do with the 6th gear. I dunno.

BTW; if you don't like a plush ride on a touring bike you will hate the Indian big twin's. They are ultra plush. A controlled plushness but definitely more plush than my XC has ever been. Then again; maybe that one was set up wrong for my weight. Maybe it was set up for someone 100 lbs lighter.

One thing I absolutely love about my XC is the long sweeps like switching highways have sometimes. It feels like I'm on a rail. No wallowing like my old HD baggers. Just a nice solid confident feeling. That alone is why I will never sell my XC. (I know; never say never) Couple that with just about every performance item Lloydz sells and it's got the get up and go most people (who don't try to get every last bit of HP out of their bikes) would be completely happy with.

You really think so? I'm not so sure. The chain's generate a good bit of noise too and have their own set of problems, like stretching, to deal with but a well designed tensioner can handle that.

All things considered; I think I like the gear design better just like I like the Evo lower end better than the Twin Cam design with its two chains and tensioners. Just less things to go wrong in the Evo and Victory designs IMHO.

Liking different things is what makes the world go around though so...

I'm more than a little disappointed that Indian got the touch screen and we got coal for Christmas. I agree that the XC is due for an Infortainment upgrade.

Why would we want to change the way we check oil?

I thought my transmission was kinda notchy and loud... After I rode the new Cross Country, I apologized to my bike for every crappy comment I ever made about the transmission. My 10-year-old Victory shifts exponentially smoother and quieter than a new one.

I have a big problem with that. Manufactured products should improve over time as refinements are found and bugs worked out... not get worse.

Funny you mention that. Yesterday I was riding my 14 XC with 18k on the odo and I noticed how much quieter and smoother it is now versus new. You'll see a lot of guys post on here how these transmissions are are so beefy that they are less than refined when new. They get so much smoother with age and miles.

I might not say this right. Rylan at the vic shop doesn't screw the dipstick inn. He just sticks it in and used the ad market as the full mark.
He says its the same distance as screwing it in and out
