Since I put my apes on, I've noticed a good bit more vibration than with stock (cheap bars, just in case I didn't like them) so I figured I'd try something. Was pretty slow at work so I got some 3/8" rubber hose from parts, 2 pieces approx 1 foot each, lubed it up w some Vaseline and crammed the hose down each end of the bars
Now, my ride from work to home is only 3 miles so I'll have to ride more to tell for sure, but it seemed to help a little with the vibrations. It's cheap easy and quick
Do an internet search for 'fix motorcycle handlebar vibration'.
You'll find quite a few suggestions that have worked for other people. Everything from gimmick counter vibration products to filling the bars with construction glue. If they are cheap bars you have nothing to lose.
Yeah I got some cheap bars that way if I didn't like the 16s I wouldn't be out a whole lot. I was standing around looking at my bike and had a thought so I gave it a try. The vibrations didn't really bother me, like I said I just had a thought. One of these days I will spring for some high dollar bars (maybe Flanders or something, would like 1-1/4") and I figure they won't vibrate near as bad as the cheap thin wall bars
Thought most good bars were suppose to have a good vibe to them...............Usually around happy hour.........................Bad joke of the day!
:eek
You need to add weights to the bars to help stop vibration. Rubber hose will not do it. look on ebay or witchdoctor there is plenty but you want weight.
Now if you can push or pull on the bars and they move your handlebar bushing are probably bad. Anything more then a 1/8" is bad. I looked at Vic's parts finish and maybe your don't have bushings. But I have learned that back then Vic didn't list all parts
you say you only ride 3 miles to or from work. Find a longer way to go your oil is not getting up to the proper temperature. Or go to late model oil cooler so your oil gets hot
The handlebar vibrations don't really bother me that much. I may see what kinda weights they make that'll work with the iso grips anyway.
My bike doesn't have the handlebar bushings, I don't know if the po took them off or it never had any to begin with
Mines an 03 so it has the smaller oil cooler. I let it run for a few minutes before I ride it, even in the Mississippi summer. I go about 1 mile then the rest is on the highway at 70-80. I figured the run on the highway would be enough to get the oil hot since it has the smaller cooler.
