Aside from a hurricane heading possibly towards Florida, I love this time of year. The heat and humidity break and my bike and I take off. thinking of heading to Biketoberfest, then back home for Thunder Beach in Panama City Beach. Anyone else?

Will probably hit Daytona next Sunday for a couple hours on our way home from Savannah. Panama City not so much. Not really enough time to enjoy anything as all I have off when I get back is weekends. Pretty far trip for me as I am in middle part of state. Kill a day going up and a day home, so dont leave much time.

As for time of year to ride. Not quite yet. A couple more weeks like end of October hopefully.

YES the fall is a great time to ride every where in the Great country Of the USA. Plus all the northern countries world wide.

I love riding in the fall but I usually stay off the twisties in late Oct going into November because of all the wet leaves and acorns on the road.

Ah..the good times are back.
I've got to say, on last weekends ride we did two cloudy/misty 8hour+ days in 45-53 F temps, the heated gloves and jacket were a God sent....Perfectly comfortable the whole time.

I'm in central Florida - about 30 miles SSE of Ocala and it is still VERY hot and VERY humid here. It is certainly not yet what I would consider good riding weather. Maybe in a few more weeks it will be a little cooler and lower in humidity but not yet. Highs until this week were routinely into the low 90's with high humidity. This week, the highs have been in the mid to upper 80's which is certainly better than 90's but still hot, especially when coupled with the high humidity.

G'day,

I ride all year.

I will be heading down to Biketoberfest. Unless Matthew decides to play with my bike and take it for a spin...then I would have to scramble to get another one before then! LOL

Ya gotta love riding them Florida twisties and mountain passes. :)
If you were being serious, I'd have to ask you what you were smoking!

Matthew was a near miss, could've easily been a lot worse. Looks like some damage to store signs , and a bunch of out of state trucks to help get the power on for those who don't have it back yet...most I've talked to said they got theirs back over the weekend. Low 80's and no humidity...Ahhhhh!!!!

Thanks! I answered already. BTW.....I believe the prior owner of my bike was from your area.

It should be warmer riding weather down there! It's nice riding to work, but when I get off, I have to throw on my leather jacket and gloves. I don't wear my chaps as it is only a 20 mile ride and my legs don't freeze. If it were a longer ride, I'd put on the chaps.

When this thread was started in early October, I disagreed that it was a great time of year to ride in Florida. It was VERY hot and there were still frequent afternoon showers. However, beginning about a month later through at least now is a fantastic time of year to ride in FL. Rain is near non-existant and the temperatures are awesome. Highs of ~75-80 and lows at night in the 50's. You can ride early in the morning in jacket and chaps and switch to a vest at lunch. Doesn't get much nicer riding weather than this - especially on an inherently hot XCT. I just wish there were more scenic areas in central FL in which to ride. I get tired of repeating Ocala horse country, Ocala Natl. Forest, Howie-in-the-hills, and the 4 mile long Ozella trail.

G'day,

Vinish

Maddog, We should meet up for lunch someday. Where are you located in FL? I'm central FL in The Villages.

We could meet someday in Daytona or on the north edge of the Ocala National Forest or Citra or something like that. Not sure what is in any of those places but I'm game to ride. I'm busy the next two weekends but if interested, we can try to put something together for after that. Any other members around the central FL area want to join us?

G'day,

Vinish
