End of the year

Today was probably the last ride of the year for me. There's a few storms lined up and they'll run past the end of my insurance term in early November.

I put in the fuel stabilizer and went out to get everything flushed through the lines and injectors and I'll probably get the bike cleaned up and under cover the next couple of days.

Nothing major planned for winter projects although a Lloydz air filter is a possibility. Routine maintenance items and the odd magazine during the winter is all that keeps the itch away.

Damn, that sounds so depressing! :frown

The only reason I don't hate it down here in boring ass Florida is because I can ride all year. What you are saying makes me not want to leave.

Yeah,I hear ya 53. Took a long, hard, glorious ride with a good friend today in very nice weather and on some very challenging roads that make those "dragon" roads look like freeways. Had 'er in second gear for miles. My arms hurt so good tonight.
Big storm due tonight, probably the same one that'll hit you up there. Today's ride was more than likely the last for the season except for those respites from the Rain Festival.

As long as there are no early snows , or freezing rain (they will lay down a gauntlet of salt) I have a month or so left ...:frown

HATE that salt and that new 'liquid salt' crap that eats vehicles for breakfast :( :(

I may not rack up as many miles as some of you on here but I get to ride twisty roads all year around, just have to dress for the occasion. Our little "dragon" roads may not be as cool as Ricz has in the NW but at least I get to enjoy them pretty much when ever I want!

As previously stated - yes, we all have our trade-offs. That's why, for the most part, we hang in there where we are. I've been around this country and each part has it attractions, except for South Dakota along I-90 east of the Badlands. :)

Never been there. What is there RICZ? Nothing? [emoji2]

I70 through Kansas might give I90 east of the Badlands a run for its money in the boring category.

G'day,

I-70 is awful! So is I-40 thru Oklahoma. I-90 isn't a bad ride...definitely isn't in those two's category.

Hurricane Mt. Road near Conway, NH is a "Must do" for the top 10 boring rides....heheheheheh:devil

I-90 east of the Badlands make Kansas I-70 and OK I-40 look like a drive through a National Park. I-90 west from the Badlands gets better as your proceed, but before that, there's nothing - no farms, no ranches, nothing but scrub land,

Unusual for Alberta. My bike was usually put away in October because it was kept in an outside shed and I didn't want to get caught unprepared. Happens there a lot.

It's good you've got some nice weather coming though as I'll be south of you for the first week of November. The longer I'm here the more I'm getting used to the wet coast temperatures although not the constant rain. And I hate riding in the rain.

Wasn't too bad here today, but I took the Vegas out for the last time for the year. Filled the tank, added stabilizer and went for a spirited ride. Not quite ready for the XR yet though. Will see how the weather holds...

SW Alberta has had excellent riding weather over the last two winters. With the obvious exception of fleeting snow, I didn't put the bike away at all. This year is supposed to produce more precipitation, not only will we get snow, it'll be wet.

My HB is down for the count anyway. However, once I get my Vstar running, I'll be taking that out when I can.

The time between rides is getting longer and longer, I know it'll just be a few more weeks to a month before I have to store the XC :(
Then its time to resume my winter time activities. I'll step up my training time, go to my indoor shooting club more often, pick up a new PC game and complete a room redo I promised my wife I'd do(actually started this yesterday, installed much needed new electrical and cable outlets).

I'm actually contemplating buying a set of cams and installing them myself.

Also, we're going to Palm Desert CA for a week in November and we'll be renting a full-dress Indian Roadmaster for a day.

My youngest 2 girls have been bugging me to take them back out for a ride all summer, and yesterday was a break from the crappy weather we have been having. My riding season has gone as far as December on occasion, but when there is a threat of ice, I usually just do not push it.

With a winter season, I think it gives you that real hunger for riding again in the spring, but I would not mind a couple of years with a mild winter.

Besides during the winter it gives you a chance to tinker with the bike without feeling rushed or like you are missing out on riding if a project takes a little longer than you thought.
