It's likely a little over the top for some. This bike advertises many of our parts and and services so some things on it are meant to draw attention at bike rallies. Also, pretty much keep it structurally stock so it can show how our parts fit and look. However, color changes and tricks to emphasize things are definitely the plan.
When I airbrushed the orange, the solid color just didn't look right. Not sure how to explain it. Too visually sterile. Lacked depth and authenticity. The orange had no soul. While it was still masked off, I spun the wheel on my wheel holder while spraying a tranluscent urethane tint from two feet away. When the wheel stopped spinning I saw that the orange now had soul.
In these close ups you can see the scattered tiny droplets of tint.
Theja, you're in Tuscaloosa, right? My daughter is a freshman at Alabama. Will be visiting her periodically. Maybe we can meet up and grab a bite sometime when I'm in town.
