I was gone for a few months getting my life together and when I came back this place sure seems to be a ghost town!
There are a few old members still active here but only 2-3 posts a day sometimes. I think I'm going to spend more time on the other site that rhymes with Fog.

Maybe it's sleeping... Like having a little winter nap:smile
I was thinking it's a bit quiet too, haven't heard much from my fellow Aussies that are on here lately..... ...
The shake-up when we all got blocked out and had to prove ourselves worthy may have had impact, with some people only just managing to force their way back in.
Though the tens of thousands of lurkers are still here if you believe the blurb down the bottom on how many members we have.
I think that may be fiction to pad our egos myself.
Anyway I'm still busy in spite of my beloved Vegas being in hundreds of pieces, well maybe not that many now.
Work is progressing.
Dunno about the FOG, BOG,LOG, site, I did visit it a while back, anonymously, to research Barnett Scorpion clutches.
I have enough healthy addictions without another website addiction....
Anyway there's work to be done here.

Het p.hunt, long time no see... Yes the only busy place is the political thread Ja ha

Nah mate were doing OK here...

Typical of many things motorcycle recently...? Granted I'm late to the Vic party , but also we are all aging. IMO the Vic crowd is on the younger side ?? and perhaps it has to do with the many 'social media' choices out there. With that I think the 'younger' ones go to those ??

Hijack! Hey Andre....was there any shaking in your neighborhood? Not like Jakarta I hope.

Ya apparently there was a earth quake... But we're I live we feel or see nothing... As always...

That's a good thing Ande. No news is good news as they say.

Site attendance is down because;

a) Everyone with a problem has been here and got some excellent input on their concerns. They no longer need to drop in and are out riding.

b) It's winter in the north and a good portion of the population isn't thinking about riding. Some of us think about it every day but not the majority.

c) The snow is too deep to get out.

d) The wife or gf or both has had it and is demanding equal time in the off-season.

e) They are all idle as they wait for parts from Polaris.

f) They are ashamed they looked at some other companies efforts to go one measly cubic inch bigger as a PR gimmick.

g) They felt snubbed by Polaris's efforts of throwing tons of cash at their other machine.

h) They are hiding because they are being associated with a company whose other offering is being hailed under a politically incorrect banner. They feel Polaris should change the name to something the SJW and rainbow crowd will like even though they don't ride.

i) They bought their other bike to be a rebel then found out they were simply part of a bigger crowd wearing the same t-shirt and jacket ensemble. They then bought a Vic to be different and are now off talking about it so much at the water cooler they don't have the time to drop in.

j) It's winter and wet in the north. They are in the garage getting the moisture out of all the connectors so the damn thing will start.

k) They are studying every Vic aftermarket website making their list for the fat man's visit in a couple of weeks.

l) They are in a letter writing campaign trying to get Polaris to offer more than two colours in the lineup.

m) Some of the ̶b̶a̶s̶t̶a̶r̶d̶s̶ riders only drop in when they need something and never say thanks.

n) etc

I guess this as good a time to bring this up as any. People are losing interest in riding in general and the passion for Victory's has waned for many reasons; not least because of Polaris taking on the Indian brand and their hot shot three wheeler car/bike. Looks and drives like a car but is registered as a bike. I think it's cool as all heck and would love to have one as a toy but if I were going to spend that kinda coin it would probably be on a Triumph Spitfire or TR4A. Yeah; I have a thing for them limey carts. Just one more of my hobbies I can't afford.

Unless you've driven one; you can't possibly understand the pull. I think the closest mainstream car today would be the Mazda Miata. I would be okay with one of them in good running condition as well. :)

As usual I digressed. The other big reason for the lack of traffic, besides me and my stupid political thread which I ain't giving up, is those who are into riding in general these days are dying off from old age. Yep, today's generation would much rather sit in their mom's basement (being sarcastic here) with their VR goggles riding or flying or swimming or whatever in the virtual reality world rather than doing it in the real world like we do.

It is what it is and I have no idea how to break this incredibly sad cycle (no pun intended) of events.

It is so bad that my own nephew of almost 15 years old has no idea how to ride a bicycle let alone anything with a motor in it. If we didn't live so far apart this would simply not be. In his defense his dad is a putz and his mom is way overly protective. Plus they have been divorced for half his current life and he lives in a city where riding a bicycle is a great way to get killed for a young person.

I predict in the not-too-distant future we will only see the cream of the crop on these forums. Those who do take to time to be involved will be the wheat and not the chaff having been separated from "mundane's". Be proud and loud brothers and sisters! You are not one of the "mundane's"!!

Yeah, okay, I did just make that up but it's true. Those of us who love the wind and having a good quality motorcycle between our legs when we can't be between the legs of..... oops, I digressed again dang it! You get the idea anyway...

Hard to beat the love of a good woman (or man (for a woman)), a good dog, or a quality bike (or car or truck) for those of us who will never be content hanging out in mom's basement playing with ourselves, um, in a virtual reality world with others in their mom's basement somewhere else.

Just sayin'.....

Watched a recent new release DVD called Virtual Revolution set in the not too distant future when 99.9% of the 'civilised' world is constantly tuned into virtual reality machines.
Won't be far away.
With screens in cars and that vid I just saw if dude watching TV and forum members admitting streaming YouTube when riding I just shake my head and wonder what's become of reality reality.
Is motorcycling or driving a car that boring a pastime we have to watch a screen or listen to music to be entertained?

Yeah, once in a while I like to think outside the box, so to speak. ;)

Sometimes I can't figure out whether we are in the gutter-think together or if we are just looking at it from a different angle...

I know a lot of folks that quit riding due to distracted drivers

Not previously mentioned is that millennials ain't got no money, so they can't afford the price of admission to the Wonderful World Of Motorcycles or much else. They've spent it on phones, downloads, electronics, concerts, pot, drugs, trendy clothes, you name it. They will make good politicians, the way they find to blow money. No sarcasm here...move along.
Bbob, I had my share of Brit cars too: Hillman Minx convert and saloon, TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4 Sebring Coupe. Add to that a Porsche (bad choice), DKW and four Alfas (great choice).

When in the 1970s I saw kids walking about with their Sony Walkman earphones on, I knew then that was only the beginnings of what I call The Entertained Generation. Now there are generations that require not only to be eternally entertained (you're one if you can't mount your bike without your tunes) but addictively need to be "connected" wherever they are; in their home, their work, and even in their cars. And us old farts see it as an addiction that is only going to get worse as all that has become a vocational, sociological and mental requirement. How many times an hour do you check your smart phone? My flip phone is on only when away from home and that's only because we have a monitored alarm system. Otherwise, the answering machine will take your call for me. I can wait, but its a generational thing. IMHO

#24 ·
Are the old farts to blame? Too busy making money and doing the best they can for their family to pay attention to their kids? Too busy to instill a sense of responsibility? To busy to guide their kids to a path of ownership?

Yes we can look at younger generations and blame the system but we really need strong people to pass on their character to their bloodline. Sometime the problem can be found in the mirror.

My parents were born in the teens. I was born in the mid '30s. My kids were born is '60 and '63 and I taught them my values which were my parent's values taught to me. We're talking old fashion here. But now I have a spoiled, impulsive, willful great grandson. Its become a societal thing, 53canuck.

A relative new kid on the block, but I'm still here. Bike is in dry dock since mid October. Too much sand a salt on the roads around these parts to get the bike out before the big thaw of `17. I'm hunkered down for the winter, staring at maps over my morning coffee figuring where I want to go next summer. Bike is in hibernation (with two new tires and two new spark plugs and fresh oil) till late March. April 1st is opening day for me. Still nose around in here on a daily basis.

I think folks come on the forums when they want to discuss tech talk or need info but for general socializing the 800 lb gorilla's name is FB

In response to a couple of previous posts, I love music, but don't have it on all of the time! Sometimes I just like to listen to the bike and enjoy the sights and sounds as I'm cruising! The only info screen I have mounted on my bike is that little LCD screen that comes on the stock Vic radio. I barely even notice it as I'm too busy riding. As for my phone, I usually toss it in the trunk while I'm on the bike and it's in the console when I'm in my car! I get angry text messages because I've been out riding for hours and don't respond to people. I just tell them I'm out enjoying life, sorry I didn't have time to be tethered to my phone!

However, when I get some down time at home or at work, I do manage to sneak into this forum or as others have said, Facebook. I have a TV at the house, but the only TV service I have is Netflix and that's even becoming a wasted $10 a month. I've not turned on my TV since July.

I have been a member on here since I bought my XR in September of 2012 and I usually check in every day though I rarely have much too say. My opinion is that the general riding public has lost interest in Victory (not much interest to begin with in my neck of the woods) combined with the fact the most popular Victory is the Cross bike and it has not changed in 8 years. Most new owners can find the answers to their questions by searching this forum or the other one without having to start another thread. I really like my XR and still ride it at least one day a week no matter the weather is. I have the financial means to own pretty much any bike I want and I have looked hard at the Indians but they do not fit me like my Cross bike does so my plans are to ride it another 5 years or longer!

I was a long-time member on the V M C for quite some time, and then that site died out for the most part and made more of a move to FB. I cannot stand the groups on FB other than for buy/sell as things get buried so quickly and it's so hard to keep up on anything. Forums are still the way I like to go for any discussion/help/bullshitting.

I've been a long time member here as well, just don't post as much as others. Like others, I frequent the forums here at least twice a day just to check on things, read up on others current issues/projects/etc. I also frequent the other Victory forums as well, moreso as a lurker, as there is quite a bit of good information over there as well.

That being said, I find myself browsing classifieds all over the place as my focus right now is procuring the final pieces from my 21" front wheel swap (just purchases a Klock Werks fender on clearance for $280 from WD, already have the ABS ring and rotor bolts. Should be getting a tire for Christmas, and then waiting on a class-action check to come back from Ford (old F-150 pile-o-crap spark plug issue) which should allow me to purchase a billet front wheel. Also installing a PCV to replace the VFC-III and then making the trek over to Lloydz in April for a Dyno tune (which any of y'all are welcome to tag along for the ride).

There, here's my typical every couple of week post .. back to the shadows I go ...... :smile

Top 5 reasons its dead around here:

1. Its cold (but I had to mow last week)
2. Christmas Shopping
3. Christmas lights
4. Hunting season
5. Its tinker time.

For me personally, we have been remodeling the 2nd master BR/Bath and closet in our new(to us) house.
