Default Got a letter from Victory to day

It started out Dear and my full name. It apologizes for closing down. It said it was going to come out with some great new Indians. They hoped to see me again as a customer. That ain't going to happen Polaris. You have been in business for 62 years. I hope you fold, go under. I have had dinner with your reps. Drank in to the way ends of the morning. Supported and promoted the Victory brand for 13 years. Spent thousands and thousands of dollars for 4 motorcycles and coats and shirts. All kind of things. Screw you Polaris. The Indians are dogs. Handel like a truck. Now everyone that owns a Indian wonders if it will go down the same road as Victory. I always try to buy American. My next new motorcycle will be a Harley Davidson.

Signed, Northern

Riding: 2011 XC
Sold: 2003 Vegas
Totaled: 2003 TC, But it's still on the road.
Sold: 2004 TC
This is Just the list of Victory's. I have also rode and owned Honda's, Kawasaki's, Suzuki's, Harley's. Some old European bike. Can't remember the name. It was a 3 speed and I started riding on a 50cc bike that Sears sold. Some time around 1967. I have had my motorcycle license since 1969.

I got the same letter yesterday and a some on here got it last week. I too am not happy with the direction Polaris decided to take and it has also soured me on getting another Polaris product. At the same time I have never owned a HD and plan to never own one in the future. I too like to buy American when I can but not when I pull into a biker gathering and have to look at the license plates to try and figure out which one is mine because everybody rides one. HD's, like Indians, are also way too small for me which is why I went with a Victory to begin with. I will keep my XR for many years to come but if it backed over in a parking lot and totaled I would probably end up with a European bike of some sort, probably a BMW or maybe a KTM.

Got mine yesterday also, the part that stick in my head is towards the bottom.

" we will continue to honor victory warranties and we will supply parts for a period of 10 years to those dealers who choose to remain serving dealers "

So if the local dealer only sells Victory and closes shop due to this then off you go to the next town looking for a dealer , what about while on a 2 week vacation. the dealer network and service has for the most part sucked, at least here in south Florida. With that being said we have traveled quite a bit and really never had a breakdown , however it was nice to know there was a dealer near by for the " just in case " we do encounter a issue along the way.

I plan on riding our bike for some time but with 67,000 on it I don't think it will be worth a lot in a few years with close to 100k on it. I also had Kevin X do a fair amount of preventive maintenance to it a few weeks back so we will be good for a while. In the meanwhile I'll be looking at either going back to a Goldwing or looking at what HD has to offer.

I have a feeling you have never owned a Harley, you will really regret buying one. I am tired of working on the. Love my victory and had planned on buying another one some day, but will probably move towards a Indian. I feel we should be thanking Polaris for even starting the Victory company. They gave us great bikes, maybe to good, we all kept them to long and did not buy more.

Your right about not owning a HD, it dont hurt to look and I'm pretty sure it wont be one. With bikeweek around the corner it will be a great time to go on some demo rides, not selling or trading anytime soon but again it don't hurt to look around and do plenty of research on the different bikes and options that fit our biking needs / wants.

I haven't gotten that letter yet, but I highly doubt I will buy an Indian. I first sat on a Victory in 2003, and wanted one ever since. I finally got one last year with 2000 miles on it, I will ride it until it dies and I can't find parts for it. After that, probably back to a Honda cruiser. I am unwilling to shell out the Harley Premium on the bike, and the parts. Mostly because I don't like the build quality, and EVERYONE has one, but also (and this is a personal one) I won't drink the Kool-Aid on that brand.

I just got my letter today... *sigh*

My Gunner is in some salvage yard somewhere... totaled out by the insurance company... and that really bums me out... and I have the opportunity to go wherever I want to buy a new bike (once I can walk again)... I can't bring myself to buy a HD... I have lots of friends who own them... love them... but the bikes don't have the same character as a Victory. You see a line of HD's... and think... "so what"... but throw a Vic in that line and damn! People look...

It is sad that Polaris decided to make Victory fold up shop and only concentrate on Indian and the Slingshot. And while the Indians are beautiful bikes (I will admit... the Chieftain Dark Horse is one sexy bike)... they aren't a Victory. It smells of HD... and that is why I love riding a Victory... they never did.

I will be buying another Victory to replace my Gunner... I'm thinking the Cross Country Tour... sexy... comfortable... and doesn't weigh nearly what a HD Ultra-glide does... or at least it doesn't feel like it does... damn that's a heavy bike.

So... too long-didn't read... Sad Victory is closing shop... staying with Victory.

Cheers!

Mike
