Default So the Vic WASN'T that popular with Police?

Riding yesterday I watched a motor cop pass me on his Vic. Immediately I started thinking how the closure affected more than residential riders.

The makers of the police model line must be laying off like crazy. All these county offices were made to look like fools for changing to safer, better bikes.

I simply wonder if the sales were large enough to justify bringing the CC line over to Indian and keep their exposure on the road with Police departments. Even if slightly greater than breakeven. They brought the Octane over. Brand new bike. But not one gaining mainstream exposure by selling to Police Depts??? Seems nuts.

Last season when I was at a local bike retailer a couple of motorcycle cops from the Toronto area stopped in.
I asked them if they were going to convert over to Victory and he said they did a few years ago and it only lasted 2 years then they went back to Harley.
He told me Harley is superior in every way. Handling, power, easier to repair. He said Victory was no comparison to the Harley.
This goes against everything that I have read and I told him that, but he said everyone on the force agrees that Harley is the clear winner, even the operating budget was lower with Harley.
Oh well, I got a picture on his bike.

That goes against what our Pasco county cops say. They claim lower service, less down time, better handling (watch the times on the youtube videos of the cops doing the course) and of course they don't drop them on their ankles when they have to drop them.

That cop had a sense of humour didn't he with that stuff he was handing you. I'll bet they had in-house unionized mechanics too.

There's been zero out of VPM since the news on their facebook or .com site. It's got to hurt.

In 2015 I was on my Gunner all loaded up ready for a camping venture and I stop at a rest area on the 401 in Ontario. I came back from doing my duties and someone was looking at my bike, this happens often. So we started a conversation about bikes and Victory's. It happens that this fellow was a vehicle maintenance mechanic for the local Police Force and had nothing but good things to say about the Victory's that the WPD had purchased. He ended the conversion by saying that I had a good solid bike. So I waked away with a smile.
