Electronic troubleshooting and error codes.

This may have come up in another thread I haven't seen and I'm wondering if anyone here has seen it addressed in any of the Polaris publicity releases.

The hardware, software and firmware provided to the dealer network that is used for trouble shooting the electronics and error code translation in vehicles belongs to the OEM. When a dealership goes down that equipment is recovered and returned to the owner.

Dealerships that have already stopped supporting the Victory line won't have access to that equipment for ongoing support at that level. The ones that want to continue will probably have to enter into new agreements with Polaris. Remember, these are the vindictive bastards pursuing licensing agreements with people who build minor parts for for 1953 and earlier Indians. They can't run an effective support process but their accounting people still want their pennies.

Polaris has said they will provide support with parts for 10 years (wanna buy a bridge?) however I can see that only happening through service entities that maintain working agreements with them. If those come with licensing fees the service provider will have to balance that price against revenue and in low volume markets those costs can't be recovered. You may have to go a long way for that electronic fix.

If that is the case the only place you'll be able to get your Vic's electronics serviced is at a Polaris dealer who used to also be a Vic dealer. Or they may provide all that's needed to their Indian dealers. In either situation I'd be screwed.

Hopefully this has been addressed already but if not, it would be nice if Polaris becomes magnanimous and makes some effort to help their customers who bought the Vic's.

Anybody know?
