Anyone know what's up with witchdoctor ? Looks like he's changing over to Indian?

#2 ·
I don't see why they wouldn't expand into Indian parts. It makes sense to me.

I'm not worried they will stop carrying parts for Vics.

This would be good news for us...

Jon is simply covering the bases. Makes good biz sense.

Good business sense would be to make shipping charges reasonable. I understand the variables but there have been at least 5 times I had my cart full and cancelled the order due to excessive shipping. Maybe it's just me. I have no problem paying extra to support a vendor, but there is a limit to my 'extra'.

Nope, I'm with you there. Pisses me off when I see sh!t like that. There is no need for it, especially when you are already spending a significant amount.

One time I was looking at a set of handlebars. They were more expensive on WD than going through the actual manufacturer on Amazon and I got free shipping on Amazon. I believe the shipping on WD was just over $60. All in all I saved almost $100 and got to choose between satin or gloss black or chrome for extra. I always give Jon first shot for my business but paying more for the part and a lot more for shipping always trumps my loyalty.

I do a lot of UPS shipping and its rare when a package goes for less than $15.

#13 ·
Yea but there are always multiple options. UPS, USPS, and different ways to ship ground/air/overnight etc.

I have witnessed and paid the high WD shipping charges ..... Reluctantly .

I recently bought an attachment for my Kubota tractor , a 3 pt mount post hole digger , 400 lbs coming from the Midwest to middle Northern MA in three separate boxes . "FREE SHIPPING", made in USA , and the cheapest price available .

WTF , I look at small packages now and if shipping isn't free I move on ....

This **** Baffles Me !:crzy:

You want an exact example? Here you go. The same handlebars that I bought for $299.99 total out-the-door price from the same exact company that makes them. Plus I had $280 in amazon gift cards from my credit card, so they cost me $19.99. Witchdoctors has them for $284.99 minus a discount code -11.40 plus tax $22.57 for a total of $296.16 before shipping charges. $3 cheaper than my grand total from Amazon so far. Then the shipping.... $74.04 is the cheapest option and $457.69 is the most expensive. FOR SHIPPING! lmao.

Just a disclaimer... Witchdoctor has it plastered on their webpage that they offer free shipping over $99... yea, I think not. 80% of the items I want say that they are not eligible for free shipping.

FYI the bars are made by the company FMB if you want to buy some they have an Amazon account.

Dammit, Bob, you made coffee come out my nose on that one! 450 bucks - that is so absurd I would not even post that **** if it were my site! The outrageous cost of shipping is starting to determine just how bad I need or want something, and my patience for this type of thievery is wearing very thin.

Over the years I have found shipping charges to be a big influence on where I make purchases. I have to say I don't make many online buys but some charges from all the carriers are just stupid. I once ordered a part from Ness that cost more in shipping than the part. That being said, I don't think any warehouse I've run into is adding their own charges for shipping. Size plays the biggest part with weight a distant second in parts I've ordered.

Twice I've called the shipper and requested normal USPS shipping rather than a priority service. I'm not usually in a big hurry and it's never been a problem getting that reduced level of service from a supplier. Most of us though will pay the extra to get the shiny bits just a little bit faster.

I agree. I have known Jon for over 5 years now and he has messaged me for ideas on deals and prices and to get my opinion of things but I have yet to actually ever buy anything from him because even when he has kickass deals on items, the shipping still kills me. It's not justifiable to me personally. I can't imagine what the prices are to Canada, Australia and South Africa.

You guys need to live in Canada and try and order something from USA! You want to see getting it up the a$$ on shipping! 9 outa 10 times it costs more to ship a part than the part costs! Bought a part for $25 and it cost me $35.75 for shipping by USPS! But on the package it showed USPS shipping was only $18.75 ?? So, before people say support some Dealers where did the extra $17.00 come from?

I work for a Ford dealer parts dept . We ship a lot of stuff UPS . When I punch up a shipment , lets say its 15.00 to ship when I confirm it my price may only be 5.20 to actually ship it . This way we make some money on shipping . To us its just like selling another part .

I believe WD practices this also , I'm sure he ships more then we do , in my guestimation , he is making a killing on shipping .

So the problem comes in when you've been quoted a price, agreed to it in advance, then have to pay it?

The financial mess that would result in changing shipping charges from quoted and paid over to the delivery actual amounts would be horrendous to manage for both company and customer. That just means different complaints. Think about it; monitoring shipping charges on every package, reconciling differences then trying to issue minor credits back to customers via credit cards, paypal, cheques, etc. Besides a mess the extra staff required would mean the supplier would have to add on charges for shipping. Also, imagine the customer hooplah if the estimate was under rated and the shipper slipped in another few bucks charge on your credit card.

The problem is with the quoting system provided by the carriers. If that was even close to being accurate it would be nice. The companies do make a few bucks supposedly and it's not worth the hassle for them or us to even try to change the way USPS/UPS/FedEx works. If anyone cares to try it would help us all.

I agree Jon's shipping prices are outrageous and one time when I had a bunch of items I called him before making the order online to talk to him about the cost of shipping. He looked everything up and agreed the computer was charging too much for what I ordered. I guess it goes by cost of parts or something. He said order it as says and he would issue me a partial refund for shipping which he did. Jon is a stand up guy and will work with you if you give him a chance. At least he did with me.

BTW; I would stay away from buying the anodized bolts and caps in red. They will fade to pink in a year where it hits the sun a lot.

On shipping out of the USA; it is crazy what USPS and the rest cost. USPS is the cheapest for what I've sent to AU and CA. One other thing to note is it takes time to do the extra paper work to send stuff out of the country which means that part, whatever it is, has more time into it that the seller needs to recoup unless they are selling little knit doilies they make for the coffee table and don't care about their time. I do it all through the USPS website on an individual basis. I'm not sure how a business such as Jon's would do it. I imagine he has a shipping dept and employees who handle all that when they aren't doing other things.

Poor Andre takes the worst beating when it comes to shipping to the little island he lives on. Crazy!

I was curious about the anodized bolts. Are the stock bolts aluminum too? I thought they were steel? I like the idea of the colored bolts but didn't want aluminum. Plus they are damn expensive lol. I think they are on sale for like $80 for the kit.

Yeah, the stock one's are steel, and the bolts he sells are aluminum.

I think a better way to do it would be to pull most the bolts out leaving enough to keep the parts on and maybe not worry about the bolts you can't see, then bead blast the heads to make them rough, put a very light coat of primer on them, then a couple light coats of whatever color you want.

To paint the heads of the bolts there's a trick I heard about years ago. Save a piece of packing Styrofoam and just stick the bolts in it so just the heads show. Use a Phillips head screwdriver if needed to make the holes. Paint away.

I painted some bolts for some custom shelves and end table I made. They held up fine to my drill lol

In WD's defense, several times, I shopped his Close Out section, where you can make an offer and have come away with some great bargains.

keep in mind they have to buy a box and packing paper and tape to ship your part.
UPS and USPS charge by the size of the package. So tires and ape hangers coast more. They have to pay someone to stuff the box. Everything is about profit profit.

Anodizing aluminum is for inside stuff. The sun will fade "all" anodizing except for a duranotic brown which is used for window trim.
