I have a vision so it has linked brakes. This spring I put in new pads in the front. Not that big a deal done lots of breaks over the years. The one caliper gave me a little problem with the spring clip for the back of the pad feel out. Had a dickens of a time getting it to stay in place. Finally got it in place.
So when I was all done the lever felt spongy but I thought after a few stops it would correct itself. No didn't touch the brake lines.
Out for a ride and the lever still felt spongy. At one stop the lever went right to grip with no stopping. In a quick panic I pumped lever again and now have rock solid lever like normal. No popping sound nothing. Came home and check the brakes over and everything looks good.
I wonder what was wrong
John - I think that clip issue caused a hang up. That happened to me before. Not on my VIC but on my honda. By the way.. I thought the WILD would have done better. :frown
Hard to say what happened but did you pump
them before you took it for a ride. Maybe backing the calipers out they just ddint have enough fluid in them until you gave them a couple of good pumps. Or I do agree with the other suggestion the clip may not have been all the way seated
Either way sounds like you are back on the road
When is the last time you changed your brake liquids VJ?
When I got my CCT the front break I had to tab twice many times to get it to grip on the "normal" place, so I flushed the break system's and it must have been a airbubble from the factory.... sins then breaks have been smooth... And working properly..
Dont mean to jack this thread but it is relevant. My 12 XCT shakes (like a vibration) when i get on the front brakes. I can watch it in the handle bars, and I'm thinking it needs rotors, but its almost like you can feel the ABS pulsing. I have been meaning to go to the dealership and ride a new one just to see if its anything like that before I buy new ones. Anyone else have this? Side note there was some rust on the front rotors when i bought the bike in December 2016. He got it in January 2012 and had only put 6400 miles on it.
If you have the tools pull the caliper and look at the pads. If both side are not flat then replace them.
With a metal straight edge lay it on the rotor and see if it s flat.
With the caliper off use both hands and see how much wiggle room the rotor has. It should have next to none.
Let us know what you find
