Default Wolo air horn, time to put a real horn on

So I removed my Wolo air horn from my previous bike before I sold it. I now want to put it on the Vision, do I need to install the relay and such or is the exsisting circuit able to handle the Wolo?

I would install the relay. You should also solder a diode onto it to prevent feedback with your electrical system.

Yeah, what @MaddogUSMC said. Those horns comsume -- however briefly -- something like 17 amps, as I recall. I've installed some Stebel Nautilus horns on different bikes; these are similar to the Wolo, and I've also read about the Wolo in some horn reviews in Motorcycle Consumer News over the years. I've always used a 20-amp fuse and a relay.

So, yep, do it right, follow Paul's excellent video (I did, when I got around to adding the diode to my already installed relay on my XCT), use beefy wiring (e.g., 14-gauge), and make sure the trumpet openings point downward (to drain moisture -- if any -- that happens to accumulate).
RICZ, Joe_, MaddogUSMC and 1 others like this.

Cheers,

Bill P.

These are the relays you need, so no need for soldering anymore, as you can see the diode that supposed to be solder is already included on this relay type , the scematic drawing you can see it if zoom in

I installed the relay (always safe) and also left the original horn wired. It sounds great!

I learned about those special relays (last year, I think it was) ... but then forgot about them. Timely post, because I need to order a horn and relay for my newly acquired second bike. Thanks.

Then I probably learned about them from you. You have a preferred on-line source for them (and if not, do I just search for "bosch 986 aho 453 relay")?
