Also this is the first time I used the fuel-hose clamp and must say it is very easy to use and saves skinning your finger's, I think 1 year ago VJ posted a picture of this tool, and straight I went online to buy it ...

Tool is currently unavailable. Which is great for my bank as my fingers managed to operate that clip perfectly. Although when reinstalling Romberg to use the clamp again as it doesn't just easily push on.
So do you have a link or name they call the heat shield stuff? How did you get it to "mold in".
I have some odd pieces of some silver heat shield type stuff we use to use on the race cars in some areas.
BP6666VR... CHIT, my filter didn't look anywhere near that dirty at 102,000. I live in the low desert and riding in triple digit heat is an everyday event in the summer. I'm trying to understand the heat concerns on the fuel?
On one occasion I installed my tank and didn't get the hose connected properly. I rode 75 miles before I realized I was going thru fuel fast and it was pouring over my engine. At speed there were no fumes to ignite so no fire developed. Luck I guess. Lifted my tank far enough to get my hand under. Snapped the hose in place and went on my way. (to the nearest gas station for fuel)
BP6666VR .. interesting, I find myself splitting stop and go traffic in high heat often. I never gave the heat any thought, maybe I should have. I dunno
I never gave it a thought too, until I read that thread I linked above, then I just ordered and when installing other stuff like the fuse-box and clutch cable that needs tank removal ... The heat-film only took me 1 hour work ..
I'm not quite sure what you mean VJ ?
How could the gas temperature be raised if there's heat reflection / insulation between the heat source and the gas ??
My favourite is both
The VIC light on the tire that is always "on"
And the skeleton connected to my brake light, pretty scary ... Considering here the people are very superstitious about "gosts" so we see what happens at traffic lights ...
For the life of me I can't grasp the benefit to this heat deflector on the fuel tank or the fuel line. Do you expect to get better mileage? What is the actual benefit?
Don't misunderstand. I'm not saying there isn't any benefit, just need to understand what it is.
I understand that some install the tank lift for more air flow to the throttle bodies and many do it for the look which is just personal taste. As far as heat is concerned. Not so sure it matters as far as safety. I've got 105,000 now much of it in triple digit heat. I've done the same on multiple bikes over the years. I have never heard of a tank exploding due to over heated fuel from the engine.
It damn sure wont make a difference on the fuel filter. I had 102,000 when I changed mine and it didn't look anywhere near as bad as the one in that link. I would guess that may have more to do with quality of fuel possibly but I don't buy that its due to heat.
Installing the heat barrier I don't imagine will do any damage but I can't help but think about all it did was give you peace of mind (never a bad thing) something to do, (also not a bad thing) and a lighter wallet. (a bad thing??)
