Me and a few friends took a rode trip from So Cal to Nv, Ut and Co. My 2013 Cross Country Tour ran fine except for a couple of time. After running at high altitude (8,000 to 11,000 feet) when I'd come to a stop my idle would be up around 1,800 rpm. If I turned the motor off, and immediately restarted, it would continue with the high idle. If I turned the motor off for an extended amount of time (say, more than an hour)... it would return to it's normal 900 - 1,000 rpm idle.
I have a 2013 CCT and road the 11k foot highway into Rock yMountain trail ridge road up to 12,200 feet and I didn't have that issue. My O2's are unplugged so I don't know if that's why I didn't have an issue.
yes our bikes are designed to run at all altitudes. It should reset itself when you come back down by shutting off then back on. Some bikes do it automatic and some don't.
Go to dealer and have them hook up there wrench and reset the ECM
Hmmmm when our dealer hooked up there wrench I had a whole list written down ( searched this forum bla bla ... ) and they couldn't do anything.... just registration etc.... depending what year / downy there wrench is " so to speak "
Your idle will increase if it got really hot. It's kind of a survival mode - faster idle means more oil flow. I've had the same thing happen around 10000' and it did get hot because I was giving it all it had through the twisties and had a passenger.
Makes sense to me. I worry about my bike at altitude as I don't have 100% confidence in my Dobeck AFR+.... I don't feel it's the best fuel controller.
