Lightbulb XC/XR Suspension pin Remedy Thread

OK , I'm not a pro welder , but I got a Mig 135 from Eastwood a couple months ago ... This is only a prototype test piece on my old wrecked pivot pin , but , I think my technique will cure the rotating , frame destroying , pivot pin issue . This will provide piece of mind for many ....
Over the winter I plan to pull my good pin and weld it up so when the bolt is installed there is NO chance of the pin rotating . I placed two beads of weld , building it up on each side of the pin then , grinding it down with precision .... Here are a couple pics .

I'm half curious about making an entire new pin with your modifications cut right in. Hmmm. Winter time project. Hopefully my place of employment can spare some steel...

If your idea works, that'd be awesome (and quicker)

I will let you know how my finished product goes , if you want after mine is done and a proven fix , and I'm more confident you could send me your pin , or a new one and I would be happy to mod it for you .... I will only get better at it .

That looks pretty good mags, if it holds up well and does what it's supposed to (not rotate) you might could make a couple bucks making them for people

That kinda reminds me of the kns non rotating pins for the AR rifles. Same concept really

Mags...
That's great work you did there, the curve of the groove hugs the bolt nice and close. You did allow for the bolt being at an angle, didn't you? Those two bolts are at about a 5 degree angle so the tips bite into the ends of the shaft. Not the best engineering solution.
Doobliss...
I had to make an entirely new pin due to the old one rotating and thus enlarging the diameter of the aft support hole. See details and photos in another thread.

Thanks for the kind words Ric , I am trying ! You really only need about 3/8" of weld bead in length on each side , to prevent the pin from rotating . I went the whole length for the practice , but now I'm thinking about using a longer bolt and grinding the groove on an angle , (depth wise) as @RICZ has stated . I must make an engineering decision soon .

I'm clueless to John. First I've heard of this pivot pin problem.
