Bikes running Great!.... Beautiful night for a ride 25C at 9pm. Cooler night air is good for the engine, it loves it!
1200kms on the engine now, roughly 750 miles. So gonna ride down the coast for a few hours just digging the vibe and the sound of my pipes barking at the night.
Shift ratchet was worn visibly. I'll put up a pic when I get home, don't need to be worn much and it just slips past the shift star.....now it's very positive, better than when I first got the bike a few years back now when it only had 8500 miles on it.
Clutch is holding fine. They staggered three of each of the stronger gold and the weaker green.
It's a man's clutch but upshifts at the right revs only require two fingers and a light pull to grab the next gear.
There's an art to shifting these things and it comes with time and miles.
Running the Penrite semi synthetic diesel oil this time for the next 500 mile and all is well so far.
Booked in for a new 180 55 18 rear Night Dragon tomorrow so I'm out wearing out the old one tonight.
Refitted the 21" front for a comparison,
Also there's Tuff Metal on this Saturday arvo. A custom, muscle, street, race, car, bike and truck show, with a heavy rock band on after, fronted by Angry Anderson of Rose Tattoo fame, will be a top evening I reckon, and I'll enter the hotrod Vegas in the show
Anyway the road is calling me!......

Good stuff MBX!

Great to hear she's running well and you're happy with everything.

I'm hoping to get out on the XCT on Sunday. We had a bit of a blow here the other night and a few trees decided to fall over, so tomorrow will be chainsawing and carting them off to the dump, hopefully followed by a quick mow to tidy the small stuff up.

The weather people are predicting a possible cyclone forming up in the Gulf near the Qld/NT border on Sunday, so it'll be a ride followed by some cyclone prep!

Cheers mate,

Russ.

Did my sums tonight and just over a 1000 miles on her now (1600+ kms) still about 100 kms short of the next oil change though as I ran the first running-in oil (break -in) for 50 miles, the critical bed in for the rings, then changed to the Premium Mineral (Dino) oil for a bit over 500 more miles.
Gonna ring the dyno in the morning see of he's working on a Saturday morning and how busy he is....
If he has a slot spare then I'll do a quick oil n filter change and get it in there.
Realistically though it'll probably be sometime early next week.
Did a bit more night-riding tonight in 4Th gear. Giving it a bit of stick!.....winding up to 4500-5000 along short straights, backing off to slow down to 2000-2500 on tighter bends then hitting the throttle again and winding her up, on and off the power as well as coasting down steep hills on over-ride. The fat tune Snap Crackle Popping on back off and snarling like a caged beast when I get back on it again.
The mates at the meeting I went to tonight commented the Vegas is louder, they thought I had a new exhaust!
She must be breathing heavier I'd say, the extra cubes and cams sucking in and exhaling a lot more fuel air mixture.
Clutch is bullshit really but I can handle it, at least till the dyno done, don't want it slipping on there.
Then maybe we'll take some spring tension out, maybe try all the stronger gold springs and take the 3 green ones out.
Remains to be seen where I go with the clutch.....

Just got back from a trip up to Brisbane for Tuff Metal, a muscle car, custom, hot-rod , 4x4, and bike show.
I'll post about it elsewhere. Fan-tas-tic day!
The bike...the bike was fkn magic, cruiser effortlessly, like gliding on a wet dream!....so much power in reserve is an awesome feeling.....
After the band finished around 930pm, we congratulated them on a great performance, had a quick chat with some members of our muscle car club and then rode home.
A few corners and we were back on the freeway heading south, rumbling along in 5th gear at around 70mph.
Effortlessly....
My Victory HID. Headlight on low beam makes the roadhogs in the fast lane going slow aware of my presence, most move over one lane to let me slip past.
Those that don't soon do if I flick the high beam, even though it takes a few seconds to reach full brilliance most move over at the first flicker of my death ray high beam!
The fuel light was on so I pulled off into a BP for some Ultimate Premium then back to the freeway I gunned it up the onramp in first second and third, up to 5000rpm and in a mere few seconds we were up to merging speed.
Strong linear torque just keeps rising and rising all the way till I bang the next gear in.
These cams are the 'ducks guts!'
It's hard to find words to convey the feelings one gets riding this thing.
I was a little disappointed when our exit came up but we had youngsters at home and had to get back.
Otherwise I could have rode all night long........
And this is still running on Kevinx's fat tune he sent me, thanks mate, it's a pearler, will be interesting when Steve at Powerhouse Dyno tickles it up on the rollers, taking out some of the richness will really make this thing crack!
Got the 21" front wheel on now for comparison and to tell the truth it does really suit the Vegas styling and gives nothing away in handling so far, it's running a Night Dragon too.
Ok a few pix then I'll post about the show....
First few taken shortly after we arrived, the others just before we left, the last bike there.
