Today I came out of work. Turn the key on, switch the kill switch, pressed the start button. Nothing but a single clear comment. Tried it twice. Turned off my driving license fights and it started right up. I don't know if that was a coincidence or not but it ran fine. Got home turned it off. Tried it again, with the driving lights on and it stated just fine. Ideas? I'm gonna check my battery connections this weekend .. maybe give a little torque

I had that exact thing happen to a friend of mine today while ridding. She was unable to start her XC bike. I never seen this before. When I walked over to her bike, everything seemed correct except when I looked at her key. It was one click further back then it should be. Meaning the key was positioned almost straight up and down in her ignition, rather than at 10 o'clock. I moved it forward one click to the 10 o'clock position and her bike started just fine. The Cross bikes have this Park position for the key which will turn on the instrument panel but not allow you to start the bike. Maybe you could have moved the key to the park position by mistake?

That is an interesting point. But I dont think the fuel pump will run in that position ? I remember hearing the fuel pump prime. I should try it and see if it primes.

I just put that duracell battery in my cross bike and thought it starts the bike just fine I was very dissapointed to see that it was made in China. I will look closer at the next battery I buy.

My terminals were always loosening off too. I put a stud in ( loctyed a nut to the bottom) and used a star washer and nyloc nut and since then all was good. Until this spring when the stock Yuasa battery ( on a smart charger / tender) **** the bed. Battery date code states it's 4 years old but bike was built 2014 so usually they only build with on time on demand for parts? Anyways, I am putting a Deka in as I have always had good luck with them in other bikes! I wanted to upsize to a 30 AH 400 CCA but there is absolutely no room in there! Yet a buddy with a 2010 CT has one in his?? It's same length and height but 1 1/2 inches wider? I did not realize they changed from the CT to the XCT.

well one thing about the key going into accessory position or P is that you actually have to push the key IN to get it in that position. And like Broggy said, the fuel pump does not prime. I dont think the head light even comes on. just radio and accessories. So I will check my battery connection this weekend and make sure it is tight.
Anyone know where the starter relay is located ?

If you are referring to the starter solenoid, it's just in front of the engine, behind the battery. It looks something like this:

Yea.. the service manual calls it a relay not a solenoid.
