I got my bike back from Lloydz yesterday.

I knew Lloyd personally back in the mid 90's ...we worked together at the same place for several years.....he had moved on in '98, and up until I bought my Victory in April of this year, I had no idea what he had been up to since.....

I originally planned to have the following done to my pretty much stock '13 Hammer 8-ball:

- Torque Tubes Intake w/IAV assembly
- Lloydz Precision Timing System
- VFC III - fuel mgmt.
- Dyno Tune

I had dealer installed X-Bow exhaust / factory stage 1 ecu.
I was very happy with the looks of this set up....I just knew there was much more to be had.

Lloyd was going to mess around with the baffles of the X-Bow to try and make everything work.......

Well ....not shortly after he called me and said..... "Pete ...those pipes are really hurting the power numbers I expect...."

I told him...... "Lets ditch those power pigs !!"

Here is what I ended up having installed by Lloydz:

- Torque Tubes Intake w/IAV assembly
- Lloydz Precision Timing System (set to 6 degree advance)
- Power Commander V - fuel mgmt.
- HP Street Cams
- RPW Big Slash exhaust
- Dyno

The attached Dyno Graph shows the difference between everything above:

X-Bow - blue lines
RPW - red lines

As you can see...... not only are the total max numbers very different......but more importantly is the big jump from 3k rpm to the new rev limit of 6.2k (gears 1 thru 4 only)

He didn't run my 'before numbers stock' ...but guessed it somewhere around the 80 hp / 92 torque range.....

I have to tell you...... this is a completely new different bike to me.

Peter

The cams and timing advance has more to do with the power gains than pipe change, but either way, these are outstanding numbers. Im sure the bike is stupid fun to ride now. thumb up

Have vibrations increased with these mods?! Is the bike still fairly smooth compared to stock? Hows the mpg now?

#5 ·
The lower blue lines are my numbers with everything (cams , Torque tubes, Ats and PC V ) except the RPW's .

The red lines represent after he installed the RPW's.

As far as vibrations.......the bike is as smooth as ever..... Most of my riding is on secondary roads......but i did notice the bike was now exceptionally smooth and almost effortless on the highway at 75-80 mph in 6th.

I ran my 1st full tank of gas today ....... I usually hit the station when the gas light comes on ...... Pre up grades i would be doing 130 miles by the light ....this time i went 152 miles......so it appears i went about 20 more miles than usual ......I will have to get more miles in to have a decent comparison.

Good numbers and and the extra power gives ya the better mpg. Go figure right. Lol

When people post up these graphs are they at the wheels?

#12 ·
That's a massive improvement then! Nice!

#13 ·
Yep ....... Rear wheel , real seat of the pants improvement !

The bike is new (again) to me.

I used to live in the 2.2 - 2.6k rpm range (with the occasional visit to the 3 range when I felt frisky)

Now ..... With just 1 tank of gas under my belt ,.... I'm living in the 2.8 - 3.8k range ...... The bike wants to rev......

I'll second that.

PJ , very nice ... One question , One comment ; Does it seem like you could drag the end of that pipe, or is there plenty of clearance , and If you happen to get caught in the rain, as good as those T.T. look and perform, they look like they would gulp down lots of water... Be careful in the rain. Looks fantastic !cheers

Great, just what I needed, actual data that shows the $1,000 I spent on my Xbow stage 1 was a complete waste of money. :( Now I'm going to have to buy a new exhaust. They come in chrome I hope.

#32 ·
That is disappointing to say the least.... For a grand , you would expect an extra 10-15 horses easy , certainly not a loss...:(

#42 ·
Thanks Half_Crazy. What's the other half - brilliant? I don't know where you come up with all your info.. I was under the impression the big slash would limit space for bags. Looks like plenty of room.

Gun Tree Vehicle Tire Auto part

Here are a couple pics of the Big slash in relation to being very close to the passenger peg. In the near future (after the pipe gets recoated) I'm investing in passenger floor boards.

About the same with the X-Bow. Almost impossible for the wife not to leave melted shoe rubber on my exhaust.

At the end of the day, folks who educate themselves first stand a better chance of getting what they want the first time around. Some want a certain look, some are power junkies, and for those who want something different than what they have... post what you have in the classifieds and put those funds towards what you want.thumb up

Impressive numbers PJ, enjoy

yeah well I reckon thats what Ill be getting only in chrome, $807 US becomes $1082 plus freight, also as theyre over the $1000 Aust customs threshold I may get stung import duty as well like I did on my last box of parts from Paulie.
I'll ring Victory Only tonight and see how much freight is, rang RPW last time I was considering this and they said to buy off Victory Only as they have cheaper shipping deal, so ILL suss that out late tonight, around midnight my time is morning there, actually theyre in Tennessee gotta work out when to ring...lazy bastards don't start till 11am!

#78 ·
if you need to run something through my place, Ill re-box it in a Dodge box. What would import dues be on a metal bumper for an old Mopar :p

thanks HG but unless you live in Tennessee you wouldnt be able to pick it up would you?
Just spent over an hour trying to ring Lloydz and Kevinx, but the VOIP on my laptop aint working since I replaced a broken modem last week... Ive emailed them both saying I was gonna ring but now cant, without VOIP I can afford to be making international mobile phone calls.
Ill give Victory Only a quick call in a minute and get the ball rolling hopefully.

YEAH!...running a pump on it I see:devil

Still got the Big Slash I see, theyre still up to the job? , got any vid of your beast running?
bit of a bastard my VOIP screwing up last night used my mobile/cell to call Victory Only and when I called Kevinx the phone rang to message it was late here like 330am so I went to bed.
This morning I opened a reply from Lloyd saying the Slash would be the best for my combo, Ive already ordered the Big Slash so Ill wait up till 2am and ring them as soon as they walk in the door and see if I can chance the order.
Crazy hey my heart said go for the Slash but my head said the Big Slash...well it's in the hands of the Victory gods now and I'll cop whatever outcome on the chin.
Either are gonna be better anyway.

So @Motorbikerx you went with the RPW 2-in-1 Big Slash? Same one as PJRom?

But I guess it is the Chrome model ?

Beautiful pipes mate...

No mate, ...change of plan!....Lloyd got back to me by email after I'd ordered the Big Slash through Victory Only, Lloyd said with my mods Id be better off with the Slash pipes,
Chrome of course.
And I was talking to Kevinx tonight, well this morning actually as its 2.45am here right now, and Kevinx echoed Lloydz sentiments , I have so much grunt down low that I dont need the 2-1 effect on my motor, the dual Slash will work just fine, and will really come into their own up top, high up in the power band where the cams really hit home, namely above 4500.
Which incidentally is where mines tailing off, but that could have been due to other causes!
Kevin Cross suspects Im not getting full throttle, from looking at my 4th gear pull and how it slumps away he thinks it could be indicative of a throttle not fully opening.
Now when I made up my fast action throttle I noticed when I pulled the throttle assembly apart that one of the cables was out of its plastic guide and had in fact worn right through the guide and may not have been pulling the throttle butterflies all the way open.
I think when I rerouted the cable and fitted the fast action throttle that its now getting wide open throttle...Sure feels like it!
Any way dyno will tell as will dragstrip times, lookout @half_crazy, I'll be knocking on the 11 second door sooner than we thought:devil

While Im waiting for my RPW Slashs to arrive Ill get Steve to do another dyno pull to ascertain if the throttle was the culprit, and also give me a better idea of my homebrew pipe mods real effectiveness and a comparison with the RPW system once its fitted and dynoed.
The fun is only just starting:grin

not quite withing driving distance. lol

Never understood people that build a car to run, then never let it run. Its like spending 100k on a stud racehorse, then cutting his nuts off and sending him out to pasture. Of course I may not be the most sane person around when it comes to racing. I took my fox body (that I had set for a road course) and went down the 1320 with it. She spun to the 1/8th and only ran a 12.4. Not my fastest pass, but man what a rush.

Most don't build em...
They buy em, and polish em, and sit around in a camp chair all day in the sun while people look at them.
Muscle cars are to look at not drive,:wink don't you know that....
Polish em, show em off with the hood open, putt around in a cruise sometimes.

Maybe I'm jealous cos I ain't got the money to fly to the USA and ship back an Olds442 or a Stage II Buick, a 440 Charger, or Hemi Coronet.
Then double their money on em.

Or maybe I'm proud to resurrect Aussie cars with my own blood sweat n tears, do 15-20 passes at 14.4@98mph
While they do one or two then lift the hood to let it cool down
Shoulda seen the looks n sniggers I got when I poured dry ice into my home made cool can. Two plastic buckets joined end to end with coil of 3/8 copper tubing wound inside to cool my incoming fuel.
I had ice forming on my fuel filter and ran back to back 14s for the 90 minute session, in the hot Aussie sun,
I've got a bunch of timeslips with 5 minutes between them.
Guess who got the last laugh :grin
