Test run after my fuel pump replacement turned into a scene from a horror flick. I got t-boned!!! Bike is totalled, and my right leg got crushed. Surgery went well, and we will have to wait and see if I will lose my foot. So good news is I'll probably have some parts for sale:)

Hey Brother,

Really lousy deal to get injured by some moron not paying attention!

I echo everyone's sentiment toward a full recovery for you. Stay strong and get well real soon. ;)

Not paying attention? According to Corn, the driver went out of his way to go around people at a stop. I realize Corn is prolly a little doped up now, but if the SOB ran thru an intersection and hit him, I hope they charge him with attempted vehicular homicide. Being as Corn was on a motorcycle instead of walking or riding a bicycle, the driver will probably get away scot free.

It's too bad Corn wasn't riding with some friends who could have returned the favor.

So I am now currently 3 months minimum out from being able to ride. Plenty of time to source a new bike etc.... here's where my biggest battle will lie. Those inherent dangers of motorcycles have now touched home in big way. Now I will have to slowly convince my wife that there isn't a boogeyman at every corner

Except; there kinda is. Bastages are everywhere really so we all have ride like we have a target on our backs.

It's even worse if bikers are rarely seen or only seen on weekends. Drivers get complacent and forget we are there all the time. I never assume a car see's me. Loud pipes do come in handy during those times. They may not see me but they can feel me with the vibration coming through the pipes and into their walled glass world.

Been thinking the same thing. I just know from other post he is in and out with morphine. So I am sure he is still in the hospital.

Hope you keep your foot friend. Also wishes for a speedy and full recovery. Vehicles can be replaced as others have said. Don't let fear rule you once you're up and moving around. Life is way to short for that. I'll have a beer for you tonight, sounds like you could use one (even though it'd mix poorly with all the meds they have you on).

Again best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Screw the bike it's replaceable so don't let it being totalled make your mind stray from thoughts of healing! It sucks when $hit like this happens and sucks more when the @ssclowns that caused the damage get away with it. Thankfully it sounds like you've got a lawyer that's not just in it for the money. Hopefully he's good enough to help make sure the person that put you into this situation never drives again.

Do everything you've got to do (even the rehab) to heal well and to heal quickly. Many people have recovered from worse and you can do the same if you keep your mind on recovery and keep a positive attitude.

As far as getting back on the bike after you recover goes look at it this way. You fell down a lot when you were learning how to walk but you kept getting up and trying again. You can do the same with a bike! If lifes mishaps were meant to make people shelter themselves traffic would be very sparse.

Thanks again guys. Yes, I am totally lit up on morphine. I just got out of my second surgery. So far it looks like the fatty pad will re attach itself!! So I guess that means I keep my foot!! Very happy about that. You guys are keeping me smiling, and that's helping with the healing! As per one request here is a pic of my leg . Still haven't gotten one UN covered, and I have no way of getting to my bike yet, I haven't even seen outside the hospital yet! Thanks a lot everyone for the prayers and well wishes... in this case it is actually working and making of feel better. It's amazing sometimes what can actually make you feel better. It's kind of funny, I used to have this routine where I'd turn my phone on, check for messages, then I would go out scavenging for parts for my bike... these last few days I'm actually looking for a bike and not just spare parts lol. What a long strange trip its been!

That's fantastic news Corn!

Does that whiteboard in front of your bed say "Don't cum on my toes?" What kind of naughty hospital did they put you in? :ltr:

Lol... only you saddlebags!! No, it says don't cover my toes!! After I had surgery on the same ankle I learned some valuable lessons! Like if you have your recently made numb appendage covered up.... you will for sure forget it's even there, then you get people sitting on it, or kicking it or what ever.... and that leads to POAGD... (pissed off angry German disorder) lol

Wishes go out to you for a fast recovery. I know where you're coming from. After my accident I had to go through the same thing. Convincing my wife that riding was still safe (my wife doesn't ride at all, even as a passenger). But she fell in love with the color of my Victory when she saw it and that's all it took. I guess green is safer lol :D

Marv, there IS a boogeyman around every corner and in every cage. Ride like that's the case and dress for the crash, not the ride. I cringe when I see folks on bikes with lots of exposed skin for two reasons; road rash and melanomas. A local 52 year old just died from skin cancer. Now go and live long and prosper.thumb up
