Test run after my fuel pump replacement turned into a scene from a horror flick. I got t-boned!!! Bike is totalled, and my right leg got crushed. Surgery went well, and we will have to wait and see if I will lose my foot. So good news is I'll probably have some parts for sale:)

When an occurrence has the Grim Reaper thinking you might be another one of his customers, and you disappoint him, your outlook on life changes for the better. Having been hit with a rare cancer twice, and down for the count about a half year each time, I am so happy to be on top of the lawn instead of inspecting the roots. I now relish each day and enjoy it and the things it holds more than before the cancer. And I don't let a lot of things bother me that used to.

Here's hoping the same for you, Corny. It's looking like you're gonna pull this OK and be back in the game. You've had a time out, but there's a lot of time left on the clock of life for you. Play on!

Oh believe me I dress for the crash, not the weather. That's what saved my skin...literally...when I went down.

It can be 100 degrees and you'll still see me in leather chaps, protective jacket, helmet, gloves, and boots. It does amaze me to see some riders wearing a $600 helmet, then shorts and a tank top. They're spending a lot of money to protect something that doesn't seem to be working quite right to begin with.

That there is funny and sadly true. I see it here all the time. I'm a part time helmet wearer but an all the time boots, jeans wearer and usually have either leather up top or a mesh jacket with pads.

I stop somewhere in the Summer wearing the mesh jacket and people are always asking me if I'm cold in the 115-125 degree heat. I just say I'd be a lot hotter if I wasn't wearing the jacket and it's true.

Damn man.... glad too hear your gonna keep all your parts. Cagers, came on an accident couple weeks ago cager pulled out right in front of a guy and totally jacked up him and his shiney road king. Guy was leaking everywhere tee shirt pants and sneakers on and that was it put his head throught the drivers window. It absolutly amazes me how you can not see a shiney thing that weighs between 600 to 800 pounds with a human being on top of it driving in a roadway!!

CF, it turned my stomache a bit to read about your being hit like that. That's brutal...you sound like a tough dude with a good head on your shoulder and a very good outlook. My prayers are going out for ya! Heal well and fast.

Just ran across this thread,,,,, DAMN !!!!

Glad to see you're keeping your spirits up. Also good news about your foot. Rest up and you'll be back in the saddle in no time.

Three things:
1.) Your wife may be apprehensive of you ever riding again, but she's gotta know that it's in your blood (if you're anything like me).
2.) I hope you are rewarded enough $$$ to buy your "DREAM BIKE", and all accessories that you want.
3.) (The Most Important) Whatever don't kill ya makes you stronger !!

So heal well my brother, take time choosing your next steed, and you'll be in the wind before you know it.

For some reason my computer can't open this site, so I guess I'll git er done on my phone! Surgeon finally came back from camping today, came in to see me and decided to do an impromptu procedure! Pulled my drains from the de glove injury and inspected the titanium addition.... he couldn't be more happy, in fact he said he has never seen a de glove of that severity EVER heal as good as mine is! That being said I might walk by Christmas! Haven't seen my bike yet, but from what I saw after the accident.... she's a goner. Right side hard impact, then flopped onto left side, all tins trashed, Pipes destroyed, and the throttle got stuck after impact so it screamed at redline till .... well , till it stopped. I'm pretty sure she's done for. The money is gonna hurt because the douche bag cager is uninsured. I'll be out of work for so long that I'll need to bank almost all of the small policy that I have until I'm back to work! There might be more money available, and my attorney is definitely looking for it, so my fingers are still crossed

But I am still lookin for my next Vic... gonna be spring I think before I can even think, which is good cuz I'll have a better handle on where my money is going to be. I have no idea what model to look at yet... I want bags and a comfortable passenger seat, but don't want the big bagger... shopping is fun, and I do truly hope I get a **** ton of money, so that way I just buy a couple lol.

That's good news from your surgeon, but bad news about your bike and an uninsured creep (trying to keep it polite) of a driver. Here's hoping you had full coverage on the bike so your policy will cover some, if not all. I carry $300K liability on all my rolling stock just for situations like yours. That way, there's more uninsured driver coverage for me and my vehicle.

If you have that driver's address, give it to a 1%er MC club. =)

Keep me in mind for some parts for sure, if there are any good ones left. I hope mine will be going to paint by the end of the month.

cornfeedboy when you get up and going again and get the bike back from the insurance agency and if you decide to part it out I would be interested in the passenger floor boards if they are still good. I went through the same thing you are going through know back in 2001. Don't let anyone put any negative thoughts in your head if you believe you will be fine you will be. I was told I would not be able to go back to my job. I laughed in their face and told them I would be surveying again. 4 months later I was back in the field surveying and to this day I am in the field on a regular basis.
Heal quick and maintain a positive attitude and all will be well.

+1 on what mrbill said. If I can get through an incurable cancer twice, by maintaining a positive attitude and outlook, you can get back on your feet in jig time. Wanna trade?

So my father has been carting me around the last couple days getting things for the house etc. Yesterday he agreed to take me to the tow shop where my bike ended up.... I just really needed to see it I guess. They were very accommodating for me, they moved a bunch of stuff so I could get my wheelchair around it... I was very surprised!! I expected to see a twisted pile of steel, but I was looking at my bike with some dings!! Now don't get me wrong, I will bet any money that the swing arm is bent and that the front forks are twisted... but it doesn't look too bad. One thing I found interesting was what I found in the right side cooling fins.... guessing game time!! Who can tell me what that is!!

Would love to see some over all pictures. These things are pretty tough. I bet it is easily fixable. It all depends on if you want to.

Good luck. Think like a hockey player back on the ice/bike in a couple of months. To the member with incur able cancer the best to you. Your an inspiration

Good to here your up and about. Sounds like your spirt is good and that will be the best medicine for a full recovery. If the swing arm and the forks are bent your frame is most likely tweeked and will never be the same. But if your motor is still good you may be able to pick up a rolling chassis (cheap). You could build a sweet custom in your off time.

Corn, great news about the foot, hope you heal well.

I know finances can be a real struggle but hopefully your lawyer can do something for you.

Hope ya get that bike and are riding again soon.

I hadn't been on a bike for about 13 or so years, took a test drive on a Victory XCT upon returning to the dealer, a huge; very tall truck, without any blinkers, started to come over on me, honked the road runner horn and I started to veer to the right ot get out of his way, luckily he heard it and stayed in his lane.

I'm installing the Stebel Nautilus Compact Dual-Tone 12-Volt Motorcycle Air Horn, 139 dB for added safety after I purchase my bike. Hopefully I can afford some pipes too.

Like some have mentioned, when it's your time it doesn’t matter what your doing.

Motorcycles are inherently dangerous and the best we can do is to maximize our awareness, and sometimes it doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, shxxxxt happens.

Sending you prayers and a speedy recovery!
