Right now I ride a Harley Road Glide, well actually I can't ride it because it's broke again... I've been looking at the Cross Roads Magnum so after I pick your brains in the regular forum section I will hopefully have a better idea of what I'm getting into.
Hello from MN!
I will list all the negatives of switching from a Harley to a Victory.
+ Only one oil drain plug, not much fun.
+ Oil filter is at the back of the engine, no challenge in that, is there?
+ More power out of the chute, negates the fun of spending thousand$ to get a Harley "hopped up."
+ Even more power will cost less than $1K, that's way too cheap.
+ Chances are you won't use an extended warranty.
+ You'll never get to meet the guys in the shop.
+ Anything you'll want to do to a Victory you can do yourself. I'm 80 and do all my own work.
+ You'll no longer need your closet full of HD labeled clothes.
+ You won't know where to place your feet on the long floorboards.
+ Your tools will collect dust.
+ You will be buying a lot more gasoline.
Thanks for the offer but I'm out of town while waiting on parts. The compensator spring pack is wearing against the alternator rotor cover and dumping metal shavings into the primary oil. Apparently there is an upgraded rotor cover available to solve the issue but the dealers knew nothing about it.
Cross Country Magnum... Great bike! As with any brand they have there little nuances. Saddlebag latches, shitty looking control housings on the bars, idiot dealers that know nothing about the bikes... I was an HD guy previously, I don't think I would ever go back. The Indian is calling my name.
I'm not a big fan of the Indian look but it does grow on you like everything after a while. I wasn't really impressed with the XC when it came out but now I really like the styling of the bike. It looks like a modern motorcycle that has modern engineering as opposed to the "classic" engineering of the Harley.
