It will soon be time to look for another ride. I was rear-ended last Thursday and it looks like my Kingpin will be totalled out. I'm not seriously injured, just bruised up. It will be hard to find another bike like a Kingpin.

I'm from saddle brook. Right next to both those towns basically. Don't think I could ever move out of jersey.. As much as I dislike it here. Haha. And glad you found a new bike so fast. Best of luck with it and don't ever let a loved one drive behind you lol.

You can say that again! I just purchased a Honda CTX 1300 to replace my 04 Kingpin and I hate it. Though the Kingpin is up for sale I just may keep it. Having 40000 miles on it I didn't want to put more money into it for scheduled maintenance (belt, fork oil replace) as it is 13 years old. Picked up a nail the other day so the bike is apart to get the tire replaced, sinking money into her anyway. I just might sell the CTX but the wife will kill me!
Long Live The Kingpin!!

Looks like we have the same two Vic's. I hope you decide to keep the KP. I love riding mine.

If your forks aren't leaking oil then you can wait to do that oil and seal change. The belt is likely good for 80k miles unless you thrashed the bike at the strip or street raced it. If it's paid for it won't cost any more than your Honda to maintain. I ride my KP like a normal rider but don't thrash it. I expect the engine to go 150k or more miles before needing a rebuild. I don't ride enough anymore to ever get there; especially with two bikes splitting the miles I do ride.

Sorry about the crash...Was the culprit insured? If so, have the wife take photos of your bruises and scrapes at their peak. Go after "pain and suffering" $$ with their insurance company's personal injury claims agent and drag it out for as long as you can. Claims agents are under pressure to pay little or nothing and get your claim settled fast cuz more are coming in hourly. Be assertive, but polite and do not threaten to take them to court - that's what they have a bunch of attorneys just waiting to run you thru their meat grinder for. So that's what they want - don't do it. If you know an attorney, ask what they think a reasonable P&S award should be and pursue that.
I was hit in early October (2010, the bike was new of course) got scrapes and bruises and didn't settle until the next February. Emailed a photo of my bruises and hinted that's what a jury would see if I sued. I got the full award.
I hope this helps.

I feel the same way 'bout my KP. I'm so damn mad about the problems I've been having w/ it I've seriously thought about getting my satisfaction unloading a box of ammo on it.. but then I start looking at what is out there that I might get to replace it.. and there just isn't anything better.. or even as good. At least, there isn't anything that I would be willing to drop money on.. to the tune of 30 grand +. I"m prob gonna keep the KP and get another Vic.. then maybe next year haul the damn thing to KMC or Lloydz and just tell them to 'fix it'. IF the fix isn't too bad money wise.. I'll go ahead and have them take me 'quarter-crazy'. (Half of Half-Crazy = quarter crazy. :) )

That sux! At least you are fine and didn't end up like me. Glad you are okay. The bike is replaceable!

Can I blame it on the triple combination of Roxy, Oxy (long release), and lack of sleep? Lol
