Have had my 09 Vegas 8ball for a couple months now. Love the bike but it needs some upgrades. What kind of air box/filters are some of you switching to? How about fuel management? When you switch air filters, does the "whaaaa" or "sucking" sound go away? I think it sounds bad and seems like the motor cant get enough air. Thanks for any feedback.

Bear in mind that an engine is a big pump that moves an air/fuel mixture through the cylinder. Replacing the air filter with a high flow filter is a step in the right direction, but it is only part of the solution. In the old days, you replaced the air filter and rejetted the carbs. Today, you have a computerized fuel injection system that requires a program to tell it how to mix that air and fuel. When you make changes to the flow of air, it needs to be told how to react or it won't run right. If you buy a Victory stage 1 exhaust, it includes a K&N high flow filter and a reprogram for the EFI (electronic fuel injection). There are a variety of other manufacturers of exhausts and air filters out there. The key to making it work for you is getting the EFI to run in harmony. The easiest fix is to get all the components from the same manufacturer on the theory that their program will work right. The other is to get the best onboard engine control fuel system you can and play with the settings.

Yah I know all that stuff. Nothing new here. Question was, what is every one else using?

S&S!!!!!!! I changed from the Victory stage one with the K&N to the S&S kit. It was a recommendation from my dealer. S&S claims gains up to 20HP from just bolting this on. May be a little aggressive, more like 10HP but you can "feel" the difference. In the quarter mile I've heard that it is consistently 10 bike lengths ahead of the K&N. I think the bike sounds slightly different and sounds like it's taking a deep breath. It eliminates the factory airbox and tucks in neatly under the tank. The pisser is..... you have to remove the tank to clean the filter which I have yet to do since I just got it. It comes with a new download that has virtually eliminated my lean pop. I'm very happy with it so far. It's not cheap ($400 installed) but well worth it in my oppinion.
