First off... I'm new here, so hello all!

Secondly, I just picked up an 04 Victory Vegas about 3 weeks ago. Loving it, didn't think I would ever buy a Victory, but, nonetheless, here we are, and glad I did!

My question is, it has an aftermarket exhaust on it, but, being 24, I want to be a little louder than what it is.

A) Can I take the baffles out without needing a programmer being it has the stage 1 kit already on it.

or

B) To take the baffles out, do I need the programmer..

Also, any good websites to pick up accessories for Victory, I want a different seat (one with a good backrest) for when the wife wants to tag along so she can also be comfortable, and a few other small items...

Hey 04,

Welcome to the Victory Forum!

From what I have learned about the Victorys from my shop, the bikes run pretty awful without the baffles. It seems the engine really needs that bit of back-pressure created by the baffles in order to run properly and efficiently. Can you post a picture of the exhaust? Also, even though you're only 24, don't damage your ears. I played in several rock bands in my day without hearing protection and I have paid the price. If the bike is audible to other vehicles on the road with the upgraded exhaust, it might be best to go with the approach of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Just my $.02.

As for seats go, don't skimp. Corbin is the place I hear rave reviews about constantly and more than likely I will be replacing the seat on my 8-Ball with a Corbin seat/backrest combo in the spring. As far as seats purchases go, you get what you pay for, and it just isn't worth it to buy a less expensive seat only to find you're having to stop every 45-to-60 minutes because your behind feels like it's on fire or because the seat doesn't provide the proper support in the right places and you're in serious pain. Get a good seat for you and your wife because a good seat is one you don't get reminded about as you ride.

For accessories, there are a few places that offer a fair variety of things. One place I have shopped online is here: http://www.cyclesolutions.net/

Give them a look. They have really good cutomer service, a veritable boatload of products, and I have not had anything less than a great experience as far as receiving the stuff I ordered.

One place I also like is here: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/ They don't offer anything Victory-specific but they do have a ton of neat little things to make riding more enjoyable.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of the input. I will get some pictures tonight of everything and get them up either tonight or tomorrow. But being I didn't see this reply until just now, I went ahead and pulled the baffles out just to give it a test run and see how it did.

The bikes runs exactly the same, as far as idle, just letting the clutch all the way out and doing its thing, shifting and cruising. The only difference I notice, is the sound. But, being I don't know "much" about engines, just enough to get me by, I know somewhere along the lines, I need some back pressure or I'm going to start burning things up.

As for as being 24 and wanting louder, I don't want to be obnoxiously loud, just louder than what it is now.

One thing I noticed when the baffles were pulled, they were both darker than coal, just wiping them down with an old shirt took a tremendous amount of the black off . The baffles are about a foot long, and then it has some spiral holes throughout. The thing that confused me, was it had a solid end cap. I thought it would be opened up to let the exhaust breath though

Again, I will try to get pictures tonight when I get home and get them up as soon as possible.

And thanks for the advice, and the websites :)

I am not A Victory owner. I have a 2002 Big DOG pitbull, but can add some info on the pipes. Those are typical baffels, even with the solid ends. The air actually flows around and out. To reduse some back pressure, most cuys would just punch a hole in those solid ends. Will give more sound and reduce some back presure.

I was having a power problem on my bike, looked at everything from carb, heads , valves, cam. In the end it was my exhaust baffels. When we dynoed with full baffels in it was 70 HP and 82 TQ. When we took the baffles out it dynoed at 100 hp and 107 TQ. Some bike normally lose HP when the complete baffels are removed but it really depends on your complete setup (intake, exhaust, FI MAP). The sound was to loud for me though, so I just ordered a new set of V&H BR 2 into 1. I have not dynoed it yet with the new pipe but it also has the same solid end caps and the air flows around it. I will dyno it later, but I am sure I will need to punch a hole in the solid end caps to reduce some of the back pressure. Since ido not have FI, I have to punch a hole in the baffel in order to get the dyno sensor up into the exhaust. Some guys also, in addition to putting a hoile in the end caps, is to cut the baffel in 1/2 or even smaller.

See this website for info only cause I do not think thy make anything for the Victory. Some back pressure and baffel info. Hopes this helps.

Also the back soot on the baffel is typical of a RICH condition. Mine were way black.

i run D & D slip ons on my 04 vegas. love the sound mellow in town but have a great bark when you crank it. definitly ditch the stock seat, they suck. at the very least find a victory touring seat. mustang also make a great seat. you can find a lot of great links at www.******.com.
