Pretty lame picture from myIphone, but it's all I have right now. Just 250 miles so far with all the rain here in sSeattle. I can't bear to get her muddy. I have the Kewlmetal chrome luggage rack on order and will post more pics after installing it.

I have not removed the windshield, but it has 4 bolts that are easily accessible. It's not a "quick release" system though. Regarding MPG, I started out with 33, then went to 35 and for the last 1000 miles have been getting 38/39 with half freeway half city riding. I just got back from a two day trip moostly freeway, two up, with luggage and got 40/41. I now have 2500 miles on the bike and absolutely love it....

I to have not removed the windshield, only four bolts though. I have been getting approx. 38 mpg consistently but I can't say that I always ride the speed limit. When I get her in 6th gear it's hard to hold her back.

Hey bud, your cross roads is gorgeous, but I noticed a little wet stain underneath it. Just thought I'd point it out so you can check on it, make sure you don't have a leak.

Gorgeous bike, can't wait to get my Cross Roads.

Those photos were taken right after a bath, so I think it was just some water dripping off. No stains on my garage floor.

These are the last pictures of the bike. If you have any questions please drop me a line and I will be glad to explain anything about the process I went through. It was fun, and I learned a lot about the bike. Victory has made this Cross Country with its Customers in mind. The bike is very easy to disassemble and assemble. The centerstand. because of the rear suspension, it is NOT going to get the tires off the deck, but that is okay; it still leaves plenty of room for oil changes and cleaning and general maintenance.

I beleive that is a paint scheme for 2011 model

okie57
09-28-2010, 07:52 PM
Dear CrossRoads & Dave E,
1.) The cost for this Paint job & Front Fender work was $2,500. I was quoted as high as $4,000 for just the Paint job by itself by an individual who had the "name." I met these Gentlemen through a reference and coordinating with them, and their level of work was outstanding.
2.) 2011 Paint scheme. You are right in some aspect. I bought my Cross Country in mid July 2010. It was in the crate. I was actually on the way to Dallas, Texas to buy a White 2010 Vision. I stopped by to ensure they would service the bike even though I bought from somewhere else. They mentioned they had a 2011 Cross Country, and, well, hell, I bought it because I like the style. I told them to hold as I called Victory HQ to ask specifically what colors were coming forth in 2011. I talked with same Dame in the upper echelons and I asked her specifically about a photo I saw on the web showing the Cross Country in White-she denied it-Victory lied. End of the story, had I known for sure Victory was releasing the White Cross Country I would have bought it, and not paid to have mine repainted. By the way, it has been over 2 months and I still have not received any card, letter, etc. from Victory Riders Association. I called them twice to ask why and they said it is on the way. I am about to call HQ in Medina, Minnesota. how long did it take you guys?

Dave E
09-28-2010, 08:14 PM
Okie57,

I thought it was a 2011 paint scheme, as your paint job looks great. I bought my CR in early June and have not received anything from Victory either. Sounds like a common problem with most buyers

okie57

I had a 2008 BMW R1200RT and the BMW Customer Service was terrible, arrogant, nose-up and non-responsive, and that is one of the reasons I sold the BMW! I did not buy a HD because I heard good things about the Victory-and its true. Great bike! I think Victory better get its Customer Service head and ass wired, or it will lose ground fast. Mid-October I call HQ and question why they are so lax. Amazing, we buy expensive Motorcycles and they forget us after the sale. Makes you wonder what we do if we need them on the side of the road?

Not bad. I am asking because I lean towards getting a cross roads, and would love to have it in white. $4,000 sounds really expensive, even if a celebrity paints it for you :-) $2,500 sounds like a good value.

Your bike looks awesome - and the fact that it's not exactly like the factory white 2011 makes it unique.

Ride it safe and pile up a ton of miles on it!

for okie57-

What windshield is that? How tall are you, inseam, etc? Is that an OEM tall one from Victory?

Also- does the velcro keep the psgr foot place down or what? I don't seem to understand the reason for the velcro. Please enlighten the masses....

curious.

okie57
09-30-2010, 05:07 PM
The shield is not OEM Victory. The shield is a Cee Bailey 19." I am 5' 11" with a 32" inseam. I like looking through the shield. I've had shields before that I looked over them, and ones that "cut" my eye level. I went this height from Cee Bailey because I still have about 1 1/2" of shield over my helmet. Velcro. It is the side without the "hooks." Reason, because the metal-on-metal starts to wear down the contact points when the passenger floorboard is folded down; you can see some photos of this worn look on other Cross Countrys and Cross Roads. I put the Velcro there to eliminate the worn look of the metal.

CrossRoads and 07PEARLJACKPOT, thanks for the comments. My white paint was tinted with green.

Solo riding, I get 40mpg city and 50mpg highway at moderate speeds - that would be around 60mph.

Re the windshield: It comes off in less than 2 minutes. Around 1 minute if you really rush it.

You have post #4 in this thread, and the reason the image is gone, is because you linked it from elsewhere (http://travisalicia.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Victory/20100327-MG2786/822388816_c4mB6-M.jpg to be speicific, and that link changed). Instead, you have to attach it to your post. You can go back to your original post, and edit it. See this (http://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=1688) for instructions on how to attach images.

Ya I was brought up by a father that had a love affair with his cars. He brought me up with the same mentality that you take care of what you got even if it is not the best ride on the block!

He was a paint and body guy so if I was not working on his I was working on his friends or doing roofing for my Uncle (much rather work on the cars) I still do this for my friends on the side for extra chrome money! I can take any car or bike without clear coat failure and I can make it look like new!

I have a blacked out Super Crew F250 with the 8 foot bed. It takes me an hour just to wash the damn thing much less claying, cutting, polishing and sealing the beast .... boy does it look sharp when I am done!!! cheers

Thanks for the kind words - we are getting snow tonight! Our mini break in the weather is OVER!!!

Here's a Cross Roads picture that's a bit different. I entered a four day three night event last summer, which ended at a big casino where we were to spend the last night and have the banquet. As we pulled up to the casino, we were directed to a side door and told to enter there with our bikes. A red carpet was laid before the door and it led us into the banquet room. All 80+ bikes in the event got to park inside, on carpeting, for the night. It was neat to see all those various bikes around us as we dined and had the end-of-the-run festivities. Note that the only two Victorys on the run were parked together.

I can take some pics that would more accurately show what you need, just ask. Of course, the rack and the antenna shouldn't interfere with each other, and for aesthetics, you want the angle of the antenna to be the same as the forks, windscreen and rear cylinder. Look at the profile of any bike (and cars too) and note the repetition of similar angles and lines. See my top photo and compare the fork angle to the antenna.

I lived in Los Angeles in the early 60s to go to school there after getting out of the Navy. Could only stand 3 years of coo coo politics and soaring taxes and left. I presently do business in CA and just got a letter from the Board of Equalization (the revenuers) that tells of new sales tax rates in a variety of cities. Many are now at 10.25%. Pretty shocking to one from a no sales tax state. :soapbox:

I bought this 4 weeks ago, I just turned 1,800 miles I love this bike, I traded in a 2009 street glide for it,only changes I have made I installed a K&N air filter, llyods fuel controler and RPW exzhust now it sound like a motorcycle. I get more looks and questions then I ever did with my harley, I no longer have body pain when I get off after a long run.

Did you ever get that picture, Diamond? If not I have a Vic rack, but the antenna is not Vic. I made my own bracket for the J&M CB antenna. Here's a look-see. Hope it's not too late and is helpful.

RICZ what bracket did you use to mount the CB to the handlebar? I have one from J&M but in using it the mirror doesn't tighten very well...

I've had my XR for the last year and couldn't decide on how to personalize it. I like some airbrush work but most folks I talked to wanted to do flames or skulls. I'm not a flame or skull kind of guy. I looked a few pinstripe folks but some of their stuff wasn't what I was looking for.

Today I went to a local car show to see a couple of friend's hot rods. One buddy was getting some custom paint touch up work done by a reputable local striper. I asked him to look at my XR and what would he do to highlight the body lines. He told me what he would do and shot me an unbeatable price. Needless to say I had my bike striped on the spot!

Here's the results.

I became the owner of a new 2011 Victory Cross Roads just two days ago, can't tell you how excited I am to be a Victory owner, I tried to balance out all of the decisions when it came to choosing it, and I think I definitely made the right choice for me. I really wanted something more modern looking, and with some more Oomph from the throttle vs. the HD Road King.

Nice bike Saddlebag.

Last year when I got my Jackpot the only XRs and XCs they had were a black ones and the last bike I wanted was a black one. The Jackpot was sitting there on consignment with the windshield, passenger tour seat, after market bags, and extreme flame paint, it looks hot.
I do regret the decision as I do like the XR and XC, at the time the red XR really appealed to me but none left and was told by the salesman they would be none available until next year. I refused to have a black bike. My wife bought me the Jackpot for our anniversary gift instead of a XR.

This pic is from Monday, after a 1400 mile ride with my Dad. I took the time to detail it out, and de-badge it. I got this 2010 CR as a leftover, and in the deal I got $1,000 worth of accessories with a good price. The bike also has the stage 1 pipes on it, as the dealer was trying to get it to sell. I got a great deal, and am one happy camper. I now have 1800 miles on it in the first week of ownership. Gawd, the oil changes sure do come quick!-----Helipro

Bujee1. No I do not think so. I had ordered this bike back in Oct set up with the gloss black engine guards and saddle bag guards, not flat black like Victorys latest ape hanger Ball bike(flat black XR with apes).Ha,ha. Also the black handlebars are actually a little shorter by 1/2" or 1" compared to stock, just the opposite of ape hangers. No apes for this old guy:cool:. Last bike I blacked out a few things on it,not a big chrome fan, they come stock with more than enough chrome for me.Oh, the black mirrors were to good of a deal to pass up,free from a friend. They are Triumph Tiger mirrors. The stock left hand mirror use to be kind of a tight fit with winter gloves on between the grip and the mirror. I can also see behind me better with these mirrors compared to the smaller stock ones.

Dude, I just got a look at your scraped board. I also got a look at the non-existent chicken strip on your back tire. That's a 180 just like what's on your Beemer. The bike runs out of tread if you lean it any further, I don't care what brand of motorcycle it's hauling around, sheesh!

Lance,
Slow it down before you shoot the bike out from under yourself midcorner! By the way you aren't the only person that has caused this much damage to the floorboards. The thread below has also got some pretty graphic pictures:

http://www.victoryforums.com/showthread.php?t=7701

You may want to seriously consider getting the police floorboards. These are much thick and will take a little lean from you but they'll last longer and let you know if you are leaning too far earlier.

That is about normal for me as well. This is pretty easy when you switch back and forth from a naked bike or a sport bike, either way it still makes my wife hit me when I do it with her on the back :ltr:

I like it too. Do the extra lights improve illumination over your experience with the High Ball?

Also, could you be a pal and tell me the brand/model of your rear tire? The website indicates that Vic mixed a bias ply front with a radial rear, but the sidewall on your rear tire looks bigger than the radial sidewalls on the plain XR.

Several of us were contemplating that a few weeks back.
