Is it necessary to remove the rear wheel on an 07 Hammer to replace the rear brake pads?

Is it necessary to remove the rear wheel on an 07 Hammer to replace the rear brake pads?
Negative, the pads will slide up and out after removing pin clip and pin itself. I usually use a screwdriver to open my calipers a bit before removing the old ones to make room for the new thicker pads. You can do it in less then 10 minutes.
