Hey all! I wanna tap into the forum's experience a bit in regards to handlebars. I'm thinking about putting on a set of drag bars. They look awesome, and I'm thinking they might reduce a bit of the affects of strong winds on the highway by making me lean into it more instead leaning back catching it all in the chest. We've been getting gusts up around 20 and it really rocks me around. I know I should put a windshield on if I want to eliminate the wind, but I just can't bring myself to do that. It doesn't fit the bike's style in my opinion.

So, has anyone tried this style of bar on a Vegas? I'm thinking possible back pain from leaning forward on long trips. I'm planning about a 3500 mile trip this summer. I know it's rider's preference. I'm just curious if anyone has any words of wisdom.

JB cheers

When I was young I loved drag bars. Now I look at them, and think about my lower back curled up, and being slumped like an old man at the end of the day

They were comfortable for me but like Kevin it seems the older I get the less forgiving my back is. It did make riding in the wind much more comfortable though. Got a custom set if you decide to buy some.

Thanks for the info guys. Diamond I was looking at the Hammer V drag bars that Vic sells. When you say custom do you just mean after market or are you talking about actually having someone measure me out and fabbing some specifically for me?

They were actually made for me by Santa Rosa Vee Twin but after a bit of weight gain the forward position wasn't comfortable. So lazy me I had another set made instead of loosing the weight!! LOL

Here is a link to them.

Yeah I like that style Diamond, but with the measurements they come to almost exactly where my stock bars are. It doesn't look like I would gain any lean at all with a set like that. In fact, my hands were actually back further behind my current bars are. I think the 11" pull back is to much still.

I put these on my '08 8-ball and they seem real close to stock with a much better look. I can post a pick if you would like.

Those are a lot more like what I had in mind Tom. The 6" pull back is about half of the others. Throw that pic up if you don't mind. Thanks!

JB i tend to agree with the other replies, on a ride that far i do suggest a windshield, perhaps one of the quick release types, they sure do prolong the enjoyment factor, when you get home or for short runs pull them muthas off.

just an old mans 2 cents.

Believe it or not they are a bit shorter than stock style. Thats why I had them made. The stock ones had me back way too far and I wanted a forward lean.

I had those made at Santa Rosa Vee Twin. Call them give them the measurements you want and they will make them for you.

Be sure to tell them Diamond sent you.

They sell them in other sizes if the 6x6 doesn't work for you.

So how are they on the longer rides Tom? Does that lower back pain really start kicking in?

Diamond, how does the price compare? On the website Tom went through they are going for $138 w/ free shipping.

Go to the Victory rules and new member introduction forum. I made a thread with picture posting instructions.

No back pain here, but like I said they seem real close to stock...I'm almost 6'4" too though.
