Nodnarb 06-15-2010, 11:10 PM Okay, I called Lloydz and ordered my RPW Big Slash 2 into 1, Lloyds Airbox and Lloyds VFCIII a few months ago. Just got around to getting all this installed and picked up the bike today. I'm not super stoked yet.
Issue 1 - LOUD!!! Like I'm begging for a ticket loud. In the photo that was sent to me (pre order) it had a cool looking polished endcap inside the end of the slash. Mine didn't come with this. QUESTION: how much back pressure would this create and would it quiet the pipe at all? Can anything be done to quiet the pipe without losing all the performance? There are no baffles in it.
Issue 2 - It's lost some low end grunt. Which surprises me because I was expecting the bike to be up in power/TQ everywhere. Keep in mind I pulled off the Victory Stage 1 Slash pipes (notorious for killing HP). QUESTION: would this be an issue of back pressure? Would the little end cap make enough back pressure to notice a change?
The good news, the bike has crazy power up top now. It really comes alive at 3000RPM, which is not an issue, but I'd rather get to 100 MPH faster than being able to go 130 MPH if that makes sense. Side note: I get a bit of a swap going over 90 mph which gets worse the faster I go. Over 100MPH its not cool at all.
I'm just looking for some feedback here. I'm planning on calling Lloyd tomorrow to find out where my end cap is and get his input.
Brandon
diamondrmp 06-15-2010, 11:17 PM Sounds like you are missing the end caps and maybe the mufflers. Definitely call Lloyd.
This is straight from the RPW website.
The BIG SLASH stands out through a wealth of refined details. The header is perfectly crafted using 1 ¾” mild steel which meticulously transitions into the swooping curvature of the 3 ½” slash cut muffler that is finished off by the signature RPW USA T6 end cap. This set is complete with heat shields, baffles, 02 sensor ports and mounting hardware.
Highway Star 06-16-2010, 10:36 AM Can you post pictures from many angles. I'm interested in this pipe, but can't get any pics off the net.
Thanks
Nodnarb 07-08-2010, 12:16 AM Here you go. I'm happy with the pipe now. Although it was a total B!&CH to install. Power is great though. Looks are nice too. A little on the loud side still but I like it.
9secondsflat 07-08-2010, 08:03 AM you need the baffles to build the low end torque back up....dont confuse NOISE with power. i have seen many of people with cars and bikes at the drag strip that believe they have added power because its louder...the only way to know is to dyno the bike before and after the mods...you will see exactly what you have in an apples to apples comparison.

I agree. I dyno'd it with the Stage 1 Vic Slash pipes and it only pulled 75 HP and 99 TQ. Now it's got 95 HP and 109 TQ
MT8Ball 07-08-2010, 12:53 PM nodnarb,
Did you end up not having the end piece/baffle? Your post didn't really say if you got it in, and then now like the sound/performance. I am also looking at this exhaust. I like loud, but wanted to see it on a bike. Do you have any more pics?

Sorry I wasn't clear. The pipe was sent to me WITHOUT the baffle and end cap. Some kind of mix up at the ceramic coater. RPW sent the parts right after I contacted them about the issue. I didn't ride it much without the baffle and end cap. I like loud too but it was ridiculous. I put them in and all is well. I ran it on the dyno after everything was installed.
MT8Ball 07-08-2010, 04:38 PM thanks for the clarity, bike looks nice with it. Wow, you got that much hp/tq just from changing pipes???
warrior1 07-08-2010, 05:34 PM I have the RPW thor 2 into 1 on my 100ci. kingpin. Sound is great power is great @ 97hp 108ftlbs. torque on Lloydz dyno. Also has an S&S intake and vfcIII. But got to say, the finish on these pipes leaves alot to be desired. Look at the chrome the wrong way and its scratched!
Highway Star 07-08-2010, 06:46 PM Thanks for the pics Nodnarb.
I like it, yours is the first I've seen it on, and what better bike than the Hammer thumb up
MT8Ball 07-10-2010, 05:28 PM warrior1,
Yeah I like the RPW Thor a lot in black. I hear they are good for power too. My only issue is the sound...I can't find a single video on Youtube or other that has an example. I don't like the quiet 2-1's, I want a little louder pipe. How would you compare the sound to another pipe?

I think this might help. Not a 100% sure it's a thor, but my guess is it is.

warrior1 07-10-2010, 09:01 PM yep thats the Thor! at least it looks it to me! very deep throaty sound. My son says when he's behind me it sounds unreal and he's a harley guy!
MT8Ball 07-10-2010, 11:37 PM wow that's a lot louder and deeper than i though it would be! On their website it looks like it would sound very similar to the "deal", as it is shaped very similar, which is very quiet compared to this. I like the "Thor" a lot more now. Thanks guys!!
