: Advice: Looking to buy a KP
Bzippi 06-20-2010, 08:56 AM Hi,
I've been shopping around and looking to buy a Kingpin. I was hoping to get some advice on a couple that I've found: Price OK? Any issues with the model year I should be aware of?
1. 2007 Kingpin Tour. Under 6000 miles. Asking price, $11,900.
2. 2008 Kingpin Tour. New, old dealer stock with full warranty. $12,999. I haven't talked to the dealer about this one yet, but I assume they'll also want to try to stick me with prep, freight and doc fees.
Any help, guidance or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
diamondrmp 06-20-2010, 11:20 AM Go with the 07 because it is the open loop system which handles mods better.

Bzippi 06-20-2010, 02:06 PM Thanks for the quick responses. I think I'll try to take the 07 our for a test ride this week and see what happens.
Daytripper 06-22-2010, 12:45 AM Can't speak to the other, but bought an 07 KP Tour in 08 after being HD owner for years and LOVE MY KingPin, No problems at all and rides great!!! Only mods are a Corbin Faring, The price looks right to me.

SmattaHead 06-22-2010, 05:51 AM I believe you can get a used KP cheaper than the one you have found. Keep looking! If you don't mind buying used, you can get some great deals and save the cash for mods!
Bzippi 06-22-2010, 07:14 AM Daytripper ... thanks. I'm really looking forward to finding a Kingpin. I've heard no major complaints from anyone I know who has one.
SmattaHead. The 07 I found was at the higher end of Kelly Blue Book, but I thought that with the low mileage and the condition it was in, it probably wasn't too far out of line. But I don't have much experience with the used Victory market. What do you think would be a good ballpark price for an 07 Kingpin Tour? Thanks!
SmattaHead 06-22-2010, 07:57 AM Not sure exactly. My '06 that I purchased this past winter with 5200 miles was $6500. It was not a tour model, just a standard KP. If you look, you can find them under $10K. I'm not trying to influence you, just to open your mind.
Be happy with your purchase, that's the most important thing. I know some have gotten better deals, especially with left over new bikes!
Bzippi 06-22-2010, 08:05 AM SmattaHead,
Thanks! Don't worry about trying to influence me. If I didn't want a variety of opinions from people who actually own them, I wouldn't have asked. thumb up
I'm going to keep my ear to the ground and look around.
Ride safe!

check the internet daily there are some deals out there to be had, thats what i did. I test rode the kingpin before i purchased my jackpot and it is a
beautiful, well handling, comfortable bike.but in the end get the one you really want. Good luck you will not regret owning a victory.
Bzippi 06-22-2010, 10:57 AM I've been checking the Internet every day. Vics must not be real popular in Indiana because I'm not finding a lot, but I'm willing to go pick it up if it's a good enough deal. I've not ridden a KP before, but I am doing a test ride of one today. :p
SmattaHead 06-22-2010, 11:07 AM Bzippi-
I would check craigslist.org in your surrounding area, as well as keeping an eye on ebay. Also, this site and ******.net are pretty good. I know there was a guy on here by the name of vkray that had a very sharp bike with lots of goodies already installed for sale, so keep looking!
Good luck! You'll soon be a proud vic owner! This is my first vic and I am very pleased with the product thus far!
Bzippi 06-22-2010, 11:13 AM SmattaHead,
Thanks for the advice and good wishes. I'm so excited about getting a Vic that my wife can't stand to be around me anymore because I talk about it so much. I'm just not sure what my plan is to keep her away from me after I get the bike. :D
SmattaHead 06-22-2010, 11:45 AM She either needs to be a sexy passenger or let you go by yourself! My wife does not ride, so my bike is set up for solo riding ;)
Of course, she could get her own bike and go with you!!
07PEARLJACKPOT 06-22-2010, 12:24 PM Thats part of the appeal of owning a victory, you dont see them on every street corner like the hd's.

That's one of the first things that made me start looking at Vics. I also will get the satisfaction of making my HD friends nuts because they have trying to tell me which HD I should get.
