I have a 09 Hammer and the seat is killing me (or should I say my a _ _). Can't ride longer than hour at a time.
Has anyone had an mods done to their seat? I've heard bad things about gel packs from being heaters when in the sun to drying out and cracking over time.
I was thinking about foam, but leary of the bike show venders. Would like to find someone with stable shop and a plus would be in Texas.
I have seen the after market seats, but I don't want to loose the look of the cowling cover.
Please help

I've heard nothing but good about the gel inserts.

If I'm out for longer than a couple of hours I use an airhawk seat cushion. Takes a wee while to get the right level of air in it but once set up its great

This sounds like a great short term fix...which one did you order for the hammer?
I would really like to get the seat reworked.

I bought the Victory bandit seat a couple of months ago, but we haven't had much good weather here so I can't confirm if it's an improvement over stock on an hour plus ride. It is an improvement for the short rides I've taken so far.

I got the large cruiser pad but in hindsight I reckon the medium would fit better

Yes the site is a little misleading. You need the cover and the pad as the its the cover that has the loops etc to attach to the bike

I would take the stock seat to any upholstery shop along with a gel insert (you can pick them up on e*ay) and they can remove the cover cut out enough material and install the insert at a fraction of the price of a custom seat builder....they will cost 300 and up to do the job....

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I have found a custom seat builder that will reshape the foam and insert an air bladder into the seat at a reasonable price, ($250.00).
He had a custom chopper with the air bladder installed not only on the driver seat, but the passenger seat as well. It was very comfortable and I believe it will solve the problem. The air bladder is fully adjustable once installed. It has a regular valve stem on it that will be positioned out the bottom of the seat pan so it can be adjusted as needed.
He said that after he measures the seat it will take about 3-4 weeks for the manufacture to make the bladder and another week or so to put it in. Since he is so close to me in Houston he said he will make adjustments as needed.
I'll let everyone know how it turns out.:crzy:
