Packing for Sturgis

I thought I would give you guys an alternative to the rear trunk rack ($400).
I have a T-Bag travel bag left over from my last Harley. It used to slip it over the passenger back rest and could hold the same amount as a carry on suitcase for air tarvel. I attached nylon straps to the bolts inside the trunk that hold the trunk locks. The trunk closes even with the straps protruding out of the back. I covered the top of the trunk with clear contact paper ($5.30) and layed a soft terry towel over that. The bag lies flat on the trunk and the trailing clips connect to the nylon straps w/( plastic backpack clips). The leading edge of the bag is connected with 2 (36") camping straps and clips I found at Wally world. ($ 2.50 ea) I hooked the clips to the bag and ran the strap thru the passengers grab handles and back to the clip. By tighening the front straps it locks the bag in place. My wife says the straps thru the grab handles are virtually un noticable, and does not interfere with the speaker volume. This configuration cost a grand total of $10.60. The plastic peals off with no residue and there isnt a single mark on the trunk or any part of the bike where it is connected. Yeee Haaaa more money for Sturgis. STRETCH

Sounds like a plan!! For trips like that I always take "disposable clothes". You know, old T shirts... that at the end of the day you can just throw away. NO LAUNDRY!!! And the farther you go, the more room you make in your bags to bring back souvenirs!!!
