Ever since I test rode the CrossCountry a few weeks back, the "fairing" bug hit me and figured I'd give this a shot.... raw pics posted since it's snowing already in Cleveland today.... check em out and let me know what you think... please ignore all the "crap" in my garage as you make your opinion......

Haven't rode it yet to see if I get any buffeting...;-)

P.S. it's an MS batwing with shorty screen and vtx fork mounts (bolt on install..).

cheers

I really like it, . doesn't seem to take away from the lines of the bike. Can't wait to hear how it works. How long to take it back off for just riding around town?

It's a quick disconnect - 5 seconds off and 5 seconds to put back on.. only thing left on the forks is the clamps with a side pin on each. can't really tell anything is there.....the whole setup was around $450.. clamps, lowers (for longer trips), 5" shorty blacked out screen... very impressed with how well it fit the hammer considering the kit was for a honda 1800vtx (w/exposed forks).. almost like made for it.

That will be great for those longer trips. Yep. Looks like it was made for it.

Now you need some quick disconnect lowers. :)

Very nice. I know a guy that made a full custom bagger out of his Hammer and it looks bad ass!!

I like the smoothness of the batwing. Looks better than a windshield. Nice job. Where did you get it?

wow. Very impressed. This looks much better than any windshield. Have you had a chance to test it and comment on how well it deflects the wind? Also, how dark is that tint? Is it easy to see through or would it be better to go with a clear for some night driving?

agreed. much better than any windsheild since you also cover your arms and hands. Slight buffetting above 70 mph.. just as the XC bike did.... I did get the 9" screen for longer trips.. .but for now, the black one stays on around town and shorter trips. tint is DARK but it's so low, you don't look through it... but rather above it. Night time riding is fine, again, you look over the shield since it's only 5" tall. Really did give the bike a nice look with the fairing and the wide tire... not your typical "look"....

You have me sold. I just put my order in. I'm building a touring/cruiser bike similar to you. I've also got a luggage rack and hard saddlebags on quick disconnects to switch back and forth from cruiser to tourer. I only do long trips 2-3 times a year so I can't justify a full out touring bike. Thanks for the idea, this is exactly what I was looking for.

On a side note. Where did you get that seat? How does the passenger like it? I've got memory foam inserted in my stock seat up front so I don't have a problem, but my girl won't be too pleased about sitting on a rock for hours on end.

Great. Make sure you post pics once you get the fairing installed. You'll like it and no other hammer will look like yours.
The seat is actually the victory hammer touring seat...right from vic's website for accessories. It's awesome and my 2up riding is now free from her "buffeting" from behind....(no pun intended).....I actually can't see myself going back to the stock hammer seat!!!

Omarf4 and Hammer Down - I'm about ready to order this fairing (the entire set up), it looks great. Since the last post was back in March, I was wondering if you are both still happy with it? Thanks in advance.

On the bike more often then not... Yes, best investment in both looks and highway comfort.. Amazing how much you notice wind beating on your upper body without it on..... Either way, takes two second to snap off for those "ride through the park" days.....
cheers

Post pics once you are all setup......

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll be glad to post pictures once I get it mounted. One last question, where did you get the mirrors you have? They seem to fit very nicely around the fairing - almost like they were sold together. Thanks again!

Mirrors are Arlen ness mirrors....any Vic dealer will carry them as they are universal fit for Vic bikes ( except visions and x bikes)........

It still on my "to do" list, but I picked up a nail and had to replace the rear tire. so it got pushed back a bit.

I found it on Ebay for $369 with free shipping for the whole package

I agree. The amount of wind these things block is great. I leave mine on most of the time, but like he said it pops off in a few seconds. Also, I have a 5" and a 9" windshield for it. I definitely recommend the 9", or taller. 5" looks cool, but it does jack shit for blocking wind and might even make the buffeting worse.

I have an 09 Hammer and my headlight is has more angles as you can tell from the pictures. Doesn't bother me though.

Shidkwave, that looks nice...maybe lift the clamps a bit so that the once of the fairing isn't forward of the light....take a look at some of the pics I have and you'll see it's flush with the top of the light assembly and gives it a smoother look....

You'll enjoy that fairing after a few trips and wonder how you did without.....

P.s. Get a new wife.......
