Installed the lowering kit this morning. After a trip to Ace hardware for some new nylon insert nuts and metric fender washers to replace the stockers, I was done in about 20 mins. No issues with belt clearance or side stand after the drop. Lighting harness was moved over to RH side of frame while I had the fender off getting the tag bracket powder coated.

Very Sweat.
You didn't say did you check your belt for proper up and down play.
Keep in mind your lower now so speed pumps and drive ways with drop offs might give you a scrap or two. thumb up

Tension still seems fine...too cold today 30's for a test run. Supposed to be mid 60's tomorrow so I'll take her out then. Find an open parking lot and do some turns, etc to get used to the new setup.

Does this take away any travel of the rear shock?

It looks good. Heck; your Pin looks really good.

You really should do the modifications to the pulley and belt covers. Like VJ states bumps and drop offs can cause scraping. A new belt will set you back $250.00!! Better safe than sorry.

The bike looks great! thumb up

Actually I think the 09's had the revised pulley cover which doesn't need any modification. Your bolt appears to be forward of the scrape point. Could you post a close up of the cover?

Here are the clearances as she sits on the ground: 3/4" - 7/8" top of belt to bottom of cover casting.

I have 6" from the back lip of the pulley cover to the top bolt, which is almost where the pulley starts it's downward curve on the inside of the cover. Don't know what the distance is on the pre-'08s?

This is the best I could get with my camera up inside the pulley housing. Looks like the bolt passage is stepped where the pulley could make contact. I can get a better angle by looking at it, and there appears to be plenty of clearance on the top of the belt.

Looks like I should be able to get those three pulley cover bolts out without pulling the pipes. Need to swap those for black bolts if that's the case thumb up Details...

Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60's so I plan on getting her out for a test ride.
As far as the shock goes, I weigh about 160 - 165 and the bike never dropped much when I sat on her before. I always thought the ride was a little stiff, but didn't mention it at the 500 mile first service, as I thought I'd give it some time to maybe "settle in".

I may swing by the service dept and have them confirm the belt tension and adjust the shock if needed just to be on the safe side, since I don't have the tensioner tool.

It looks like you should be ok. However I am still leary about the belt cover.

If possible try getting a pic with you or someone else and another person on the bike. It would more mimic bottoming out.

No belt/front cover worries on 08 and up Vics loaded or compressed; there is plenty of room

Kevin would the belt guard off of an 08 or newer work on Porti? Since I ride her a little low?

I'm assuming they made the guards a little higher?

Damn monsoon like weather here today. Pouring rain mixed with pea to marble size hail. No test ride today...
Ahhh Kansas. :crzy:

I pulled up a pics of an '06 & '09 and the top bolt on the pulley cover was moved forward. The belt guards don't look to be any different.
