Clearly i have caused myself more headaches than good trying to install a Kuryakyn Run Tail Lights on my '06 Kingpin. While installing the Kuryakyn device, I wasn't completely clear on the run light connection versus the brake light connection. So i connected the run lights connector to the VIOLET wire and brake lights to the RED wire. Now the turn signals work but the tail and brake light don't work. Decided to remove the Kuryakyn device to troubleshoot and again the turn signals work but the tail/brake light are off. Troubleshooting the loss of the tail light, I tested the Violet and Red Wires which are good. Did I fry my tail light?
My questions for anyone who is will to help are:
1. Which wire is the proper wire to connect the run lights to?
2. Is the tail light dead and where should i get new one if it is?
Thanks for any help and input.

Measure your tail light's continuity with a multimeter. That will tell if you broke it or not. If you don't own a multimeter, buy one. If you refuse to buy one, connect the taillight to a 12V source and see if it lights up.
If you're keen on buying a new tail light, you can get one here: http://www.noemtz.com/kingpintaillight.htm.
If this reply wasn't helpful, I'm sorry and hopeful someone else will chime in with a more educated response. thumb up

Just a quick note. On an 06 factory tail light...if you hook up your turn signal leads or lic plate lead to it....you possibly smoked your tail light LED. Those Tail lights are designed to operate with 9 volts or less.

Thanks for the feedback and I will pickup an multimeter today. Since I am a newbie to a mutlimeter, what resistance setting should I use when testing the LED?
